I mentioned in a different thread that I did a 50 things to do be before 50 list when I was 40, and some of them were photogaphy related.

Have decided to now have a specific photography bucket list of the 5 main things I want to do and can realistically achieve in photography over the next 3 years. Here they are:

1. Get a photo published in a book or magazine. Front cover of a mag would be best. Would love to walk into WHSmith and see my photo on the shelf. Said picture will be framed and on the wall.

2. Get a Rollei TLR. Haven't used a TLR since 1980s and didn't really get on with them then.... maybe mature enough now. And the Rolleis are sooooo beautiful. Problem is if I achieve this, GAS will take over and I will merely be lusting over some other camera.

3. Attend a workshop to learn wet plate collodion process. The results I see others produce are just so wonderful and inspiring I really must have a go.

4. Photo shoot of a ballet dancer. Would love to try and do justice to the grace, beauty and strength of ballet dancers.

5. Learn how to use my Nikon SB800 flash. Why is it so damned complicated? It's got more buttons than all my film cameras combined. Every time I try to start reading the manual, I feel a migraine coming on.

So thats my 5; realistic and achievable yet still challenging for my level.

What do others have for their photography bucket list?

1. Do a studio shoot with a model.

2. buy a set of f2.8 lenses (18-70 70-200)

3. make some money from my photography

4. have a photo appear in or on something

5. have a photo so good my missus lets me blow it up big and hang it in the house

for some of you guys these are all little things. but for me these are big things at the moment

1) Explore the remote parts of North Africa in a land rover

2) spend some time in the northeastern states of India (Nagaland etc)

3) (Super Ambitious One!) Get a front cover image on a prestigious mag (Nat Geo etc)

4) hold an exhibition

5) revisit Burma and spend some time shooting in the extreme northern Himalaya region

We are all at different levels and the thing is to choose something appropriate for where you are now, so those items make perfect sense....good luck in achieving them :)

1) Shoot Yosemite on Large Format Black and White film

2) Shoot the Scottish Highlands

3) Nail a *whole* box of Velvia 50

4) Shoot a portrait I'm happy with

5) Do a decent city shoot

1) Learn/shoot portraits & candid shots I am happy with. This is an area of photography I am never happy with

2) Travel across Europe and photograph everything I want to see, to a level I am happy with

3) Take more time with my shots, and learn to get 'that' shot every time (be happy with my shots)

4) Try out some large format slides film on a landscape, and then hang the slides on my wall (backlit)

5) Improve my post processing skills

There are loads of things I want to do without a camera but since this is a photography bucket list

Attend a workshop and iron out all the creases
aerial photography of some sort
Photography Tour India
Photography Tour Pakistan
Photography Tour Northern territory

- Large format, Bruce Davidson style
- Tokyo
- Produce a cohesive project over a long period, something interesting and personal
- Meet up with a few photographers overseas whom I admire and have been influenced by
- Do more fashion work
- Get published widely

It's a shame not all of these are gear related, it'd be easier to tick off a few items if that were the case. :p
