Could anyone recommend a good book on photography?
I'm not a photography student so don't need a book just to pass exams , I understand the basics of exposure etc. after reading many websites

I would like a clear, easy to understand book & preferably with good visuals & explanations
That I could keep referring to as I progress.

There seems to be so many books out, I thought id ask for your input rather than ip dipping

Have a look at Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson. This book definitely helped me.

+1 here. I got this a while ago and it has proved very useful. I find myself referring back to it every so often.

Scott Kelby books are good as are Tom Ang books.

Totally agree, i have kelby books, and have helped loads, just got Tom ang book, and looks amazing.. plus as mentioned above Understanding exposure.. i have the book, and ebook on ipad to read when on the bank...
 
Just ordered 'Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson' , under £10 on amazon
