As above really. Got a flyer in a magazine today offering 4 photography books for 99p, plus you buy four from the next 4 offers (at full price).

The company in question is: Photographers Book Club.

Normally I'm not one for book clubs, but there are plenty of books me & OH would like, now she's getting into it as well!

Any thoughts?

just buy them from amazon

Im a member... but I agree... go Amazon!
When I joined it was the 4 books for 99p (or thereabouts) and the Lowepro Rezo 160 AW bag, so I really felt it was a good deal.
Ive had plenty of books from them but recently Im finding that theres not always something of interest to me, and I sometimes forget to cancel the 'editors choice' which turns up anyway unless you cancel in advance.

Today Lee Frost's 'landscape Photography' turned up, which I dont want. Now I have to stump up £22.25 for a book I dont want or sort out sending it back.
The total cost for the above is £22.25 in p&p.
On Amazon the book is £16.25 with free p&p

Next months editors choice is 'The digital photographers Guide To Filters' club price £18.75 p&p £3.50. The same book is £9.89 on Amazon.
I intend to close my membership tbh, Im certainly not making any savings anymore.

I have been there and done that too. After buying the 4 extra books, you can call them and get them to cancel the Editor's choice. They still send through the booklet to choose from but never again does the Editors choice land on your doorstep.

I always hated the delivery people as well as most of the time they wouldnt try posting through the letterbox - we have a large one that A4 books can get through with packagaing and they would simply leave outside. Rain comes, packaging and book destroyed.

happenned on at least 2 occasions and is a pain in the bottom explaining to the staff.

Had that with a computer book club a number of years back, they put the parcel in the wheelie bin, on the day of collection. I got home to a card through the door saying parcel in bin. You guessed it the bin was empty. Took ages to get them to understand what had happed, I asked for a replacement st to be sent to my place of work, so I could sign for them, but they would not do that. Got a letter in the post a couple of days later saying they had terminated my membership.

I joined a couple of months ago and bought 4 books plus a lowepro bag. I saved quite a bit of money on the original purchases. The condition is that you buy 4 books. The next catalogue came out and I bought 2 books. (yes I could have saved £7 in total from amazon BUT I have already saved £60 plus). So as it stands I am more than £50 up and just need to buy 2 more books. Once I have bought 4 books I will cancel the automatic editors choice.

It is down to making intelligent purchases. I originally bought 2 books on photoshop which saved me more than £40 on their own.

.... and the new catalogue is out today.... My choice "Corrective lighting, posing and retouching" (less than £3 cheaper on amazon) & "Master lighting guide" (also less than £3 cheaper on Amazon)

Thats my four books done and I am up more than £40 plus the lowepro bag plus the book they chucked in free!
