Does anyone here work in taking portraits, I was wondering in what way I go about starting a job like this' like if you go and get your photo taken what is the name of that umbrella thing? and the backdrop where do you get them?

Basically, I wanna start out on the bottom taking cheesy photographs of people in suits spreading them out then and there and having an end product that may lead me on to better work.

Thank you
Love

I don't do photography as a profession as such, however I used to do product photography for the last two companies I worked for.

The name of the umbrella thing, is called a shoot through umbrella
backdrops can be anything, my favourite is using white paper

:)

I was given a government grant of £500 so if there is any good deals to be had on eBay or any other websites that I'd be grateful

I'm rocking a 500D standard lens is usually what I have on it, I find it's the jack of all trades.

It would be nice to throw everything in the back of the car and go to a wedding, funeral, formal eg...

If you guys see anything because I need to buy stuff soon

Ummmmm do you know much about lighting for portraits using your "umbrella thingy"? I would advise reading up on the type of photography (portrature) and seeing what equipment you need. If you want to make it professionally you need to be very, very good as there is so much competition. This is a mild response to the flaming you are likely to get by starting a thread like this, but good luck to you.

This thread is a joke, right?

I think the Range do a good selection of brushes and paints, might be handy for touching up the blown highlights you may well get while you are learning to use the equipment when you purchase it. You could always just practise a bit first and see how you go.:naughty:
