Having sought the proper permissions to post this thread, I hope that it will be of value to some. :)

Let me start by saying something of where I am coming from. I have 20 or more years experience of delivering training courses, and it's 5 years since I photographed my first wedding (like many of you before that I was photographing friends and family for free for a few years). I have encountered the pitfalls, the wastage (time and money), the difficulties, and I am happy to share that knowledge along with passing on my inspiration, knowledge and instinct for photography. I know some people who have attended my sessions before are on TP, so maybe one or two will tell you about my willingness to share my knowledge, and perhaps can reassure you that I am genuine in wanting to share it either for free where I can or for a small fee at other times.

So I have some photography workshops that I run at a very cheap price - some tell me too cheap :D These are run near to Liverpool (close to the East Lancs, the M57 and M62).

Sunday 7th February (this Sunday) - a couple of places left on the Improve Your Camera Skills workshop for those newer to photography. This is aimed at amateurs, and is suitable for you whatever camera you own, as you can apply what we cover with all cameras. Just £75 per person. Lots of useful information and guidance from a professional photographer.

The March Series (it's happening in March, just in case you couldn't tell!)
Following on from the success of The November Series (we did that one in November!), 4 workshops for the new or newer photographer, we are now doing The March Series in 2010. The November Series was born out of the news of the first successfully sued wedding photographer in Yorkshire, dubbed 'bungling Bowers' in some circles, and the ensuing comments from many aspiring to be a professional photographer who want to avoid being next but either can't afford the money or the time off work to attend many of the workshops that are currently on offer.

At Dovecote Training, we've been listening, so The March Series is a set of 4 workshops, and you can attend one, two, three or all four sessions which will be taking place on weekend days. The dates are 6th, 7th, 13th and 14th March 2010. The workshops will take place at the Zoe Photography base on the Knowsley Hall Park on the outskirts of Liverpool. Topics covered are:

Saturday 6th March - Improve your camera skills (including an element of flash photography)
Sunday 7th March - How to Pose People for Beautiful Images
Saturday 13th March - Being in Control of the Wedding
Sunday 14th March - The Business of Photography

The March Series is an affordable set of workshops, with each one costing only £75, or £250 if you book all 4 sessions. All we ask for keeping the price so low is that you bring your own lunch (we'll supply the drinks and biscuits!). For those of you who live some distance from the Merseyside area, we have some local hotels starting from £50 within a 15 minute drive of our base. And we can arrange pick up from Runcorn mainline station.

To book your place, message me here, email zoe@zoephotography.co.uk or call us on 0151 546 4411. Alternatively, please take a look at my training blog (keeping prices down means it's a blog and not a website proper!) - www.dovecotetraining.co.uk and click on photography training.

I hope this is of value to one or two of you, and please feel free to ask me questions if you wish.
Thank you ( and thanks to the TP team too!)
Zoe

Having met Zoe a few weeks ago and since chatted on the phone [ok, wittered on for nearly an hour, we ARE women] I have booked on some of her workshops, so will happily do a review afterwards, but in the meantime, really looking forward to this - any excuse for a weekend away

its a shame im so far away i would have been interested in this :(

Anyone needing to travel - train fares are dirt cheap if booked ahead and we will organise pick up from Runcorn Station, and there is a hotel locally, the Express by Holiday Inn, which I believe is under £50 per night.

And as a special for TP members, I'm happy to knock £10 off the price (which is only £75 anyway) And if you book all 4 I'll do that for you at £200. That's a whole third off!!!!!

Places are filling up now, so don't leave it too long to get in touch! 0151 546 4411

Yvonne - I'm sure you'll have lots of fun ... I have a feeling you might be trouble, but it will still be fun ;)

Hehe

Hi Zoe,

I'd be interested in the workshops but can't make the March sessions as I'll be in Mauritius. :)

If you have any workshops planned for April onwards, please let me know.

Thanks

JM

March is bad timing for me but I would be very interested in attending some workshops like this. I'd like to be able to do all 4 of them but £250 is an amount I just don't have at the moment. I know it is very good value for what would be an invaluable course but I just don't have it. If you run a November 2010 series then give me a shout.

Hi Zoe,

I'm based in the city centre of Liverpool, do a lot of event photography.
I would like to make a cautious transition to wedding photography, and hopefully grasp some of the business ethics.

I'm interested in:
Saturday 13th March - Being in Control of the Wedding
Sunday 14th March - The Business of Photography

Hi Zoe - following on your your questions re Ryan's diploma ;)

I think you should make more of your Awards, but although your website mentions them it doesn't say who awarded the awards, and without that they are meaningless

Not wishing to dampen your thread, quite the opposite in fact, so please tell everyone about your awards fully and you should get more interest

Hope it all goes well

DD

I would love to attend these but i live in Ireland. Does anyone else know of other wedding training courses maybe in ireland or somewhere i can get cheap travel:)

ferry to liverpool? then train to runcorn?

or ryanair/easyjet to Blackpool or Liverpool John Lennon

LOL Dave, it's not like me to hide lights under bushels, but thank you for pointing that out, you're absolutely right, I haven't said anything about them or some other bits and bobs either! Thank you for pushing me!

My awards are from the BIPP and MPA in the North West (I have yet to enter at a national level!). I am currently (for another 6 weeks!) the North West Fashion Photographer of the Year and the NW Studio Portrait Photographer of the Year, and in the previous year I was the North West Environmental Portrait Photographer of the Year. Also, last year I had an exhibition of my work in the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool, and I speak regularly at the National Conservation Centre and the Walker Art Gallery on the influence of art on photography. I am about to do a gallery talk at Sudley House in Liverpool as well, which is looking at Pre-Raphealite art and how we as photographers can learn from their style and symbolism. I do this as a photographer, not as an artist! And I have another exhibition of my work in Liverpool in May (you can all come to my private viewing!!!!! :D )

I am qualified to licenciate level with both the BIPP and the MPA, and I am currently working on my panel submission for my Associateship with both (scary stuff!!)

I think that's about it - oh, and I know how to do the career change, as I've done it!

On the flight thing - we pick people up from train stations and airports all the time, so no problems there, and flights can be quite cheap too.

That's more like it :)

Sounds much more impressive now guys doesn't it (and yes, £75 sounds too cheap :D)

And Zoe also forgot to mention she has a daily word count ................ trust me, she has to use it up EVERY day :)

Sounds like some great offers there!

Pity money for me is as tight as a gnats bum :p I think people will learn a lot from you after reading your posts and blog!

Well if you are wanting a "taster" session with Zoe, she is speaking at our Help For Heroes Charity weekend on Sunday 21st March 2010 (thanks Z for your time donation for the cause) doing her "Controlling a Wedding" Masterclass.

For only £20.00 you can spend 2 hours in her company listening to her words of wisdom and inspiration.

I will warn you though, once you have done the session with Z, you WILL wanting to be booking on one of her courses! :)

Details on the H4H weekend can be viewed at:

Hi,

I've only just found this thread and i'm very interested. When are the next block of courses, dates planned?

Hugh

I will be releasing dates for future workshops shortly so keep an eye on www.dovecotetraining.blogspot.com over the next week.

Also, there are still some spaces left on Saturday for Being in Control of the Wedding - a must for anyone who is about to shoot their first wedding or in the early days of shooting weddings. My system helps you to get the shots you need to increase your sales.

And spaces left on The Business of Photography on Sunday, with alsorts of information about setting up a business, paperwork that will help with running a photography business, ideas for helping you to work out your pricing strategy.

People keep telling me these workshops are way too cheap for the quality of training I deliver, so they won't be this cheap for long! Let me know if you're interested :D

Where is the information about the business course, I have looked on your blog but no signs of it.

Hopefully it is there and I am just being blind.

Its probably dropped too low now - I'll repost something this evening, so look again tomorrow.

Thanks for the heads up!
