Sorry to open this thread up again, but wasn't sure if I should open a new and seems relevant this.

One of my friends informed me that the photos he sent to Jessops of the kids playing rugby were sent to him blurred even the ones of his own nephew without any other children. Has anybody else experienced this? Can they do this? how do they know if you haven't got permission?

I don't see Jessops taking it upon themselves to act as self appointed censors Lee. It sounds like your friend needs to get registered here and get some help. ;)

What none of these people seem to realise is that it's not the tog with the DSLR and long lens they need to worry about but the un-noticed person using a P&S with a mega zoom.

The world has gone mad...
indeed, its usually the long rain coat, heavy breathing and shifty looks that give them away.

Not that I'm aware of. I was just told that only the photos of the kids came back pixelated/blurred, and he seemed to think it was because of permissions.

As far as I know he didn't even complain, he just accepted it.

I would go back and ask the manager why it happened. It sounds like an odd thing to do really.

Doesn't sound as though they've done it deliberately to be honest.
How do they know what the photos are used for / whether he had permission, model releases etc.

Sounds like either a photographic error, or a printing error :)

Get your friend signed up and we'll help him :D

Yeah it seems strange to me, which is why I raised the question. I would have asked him a few more questions, and queried the file sizes, but he can be a miserable git at times and may of taken offence.

As for getting friends signed up, hence my other thread about the invite facility.
