Yes
Just down the road from me too! Do you think they will accept my City and Guilds Level 1 qualification.... that I havent finnished just yet

Why do you need a degree in photography? I really don't understand that. Surely a suitable portfolio of work would be a better indicatoin of the work than a piece of paper saying that you spent three years discussing whether photogrpahy was art or not? Also, won't most landscape photographers have come from routes other than higher education? I'd have thought that degree courses would be chruning out more commercial photographers and fine arts one rather than the type most suited to this role.

Anyway, just because the job description says you need a degree don't feel that you can't still apply. If you are the best candidate you'll still get the job, the key is talking to them first to ascertain why they're looking for a degree.

Super job for someone, I'm actually quite gutted I can't go for it. But I live in London and have a 14 year old that lives with his mum that I chose to consider for a few years yet....

I have no academic qualifications whatsoever but i don't think that would stop me getting a job like that, my portfolio and passion could be enough to get me an interview I feel....

As NorhternNikon has just said, if someone here goes for it ...really go for it, qualified or not.... tempt them with the choice of seeing your stunning portfolio, balanced against the possibly of missing an ideal candidate just because he or she wasn't formally trained.

Gutted. ... good luck someone.

The degree thing is just a way too filter down the applications, they will get hundreds and hundreds of them so it will be an easy way to throw lots away and also to discourage people from applying in the first place. I'm sure they'll get a photographer of the required standard!

Spot on but they will also exclude a lot of more creative and talented togs, especially given the six C4 Picture This finalists. 1 Masters, 2/3 Degrees, 1 Hnd(winner) and 1 "no formal training".

They are having a laugh asking for a degree, they are paying less than 12k a year.

Although I'm sure the job would be nice, but I bet there are not many people who could afford to do it financially.

It actually says degree or diploma so I think pretty much anyone with a GCSE could blag it.

They'll get someone to do it for the money they are offering, it's a part time job and some retired chap is going to sna that up as he'll get to spend all day wondering around the peaks taking pictures which is probably what he does anyway!

Sadly Photography isn't a career for those who want to be mega rich or even reasonably well paid, of course there are obvious excpetions but most people don't earn big money out of photography, it's to vocational which means to many people are willing to do it for next to nothing or nothing!

That would be ideal, I wonder if they will keep the post open for another 30 years :)

Posted my application last friday.
