Have tried the search function, but it just hangs, so sorry if this has been asked a 1000 times.
My Daughter, 18, wants to do a course, but all we can find are courses for "beginners", can anyone recommend a college or even better an intense course.
She has a good eye and understands the basics, DOF, etc

thanks

No simple answer, I think. If she wanted to do Adult Ed, look for your local college, they are bound to do beginners and intermediate/improvers courses over 10-12 weeks. Too late for a year long course, but FE college can offer similar evening courses. I dare say you can find 'private' courses, but they will probably cost a bomb.
OU do online courses, but she'd probably missed the boat until the New Year at the earliest.
Could do worse than suggest she join the forum and become an active member and put some images up for crit.

I noticed a course being offered through AP magazine delivered via the School of Photographic Imaging.

Foundation in Photography

Foundation in Digital Photography

Diploma in Digital Photography

Foundation in Digital Imaging Techniques

£299 per course - all distance learning.

I just started a photography course 5 weeks ago at my local college; it is worth 3 A levels when i finish the 2 year course, and i can go on to university from it too. I would highly recommend that she waits until the local college starts enrolling in July and applies for a college course. I am on a course called 'BTEC Extended Diploma in Photography, Level 3' and its fantastic, i am enjoying it so much; in fact today i developed my very first film and it was so amazing. It's probably not for everyone, but if she wants to learn all about photography; both film and digital, then she cannot go wrong.
She might not want to wait a year, or might feel a little worried going to college at a later age; but i am 19 and i will be 20 in a month, and even though i am not the 'average' age to be starting a course, i have many friends and i feel great about the course and the college.
Other than the various 1-2 year courses, the colleges do sometimes offer what they call '19+' courses, these are beginner courses to get people started in something, and you get a certificate at the end of the course which can help you to get into work.
I hope i have helped you,
Steve

I am doing a HND in photography at college and also loving it (full-time is 2 days a week) but they give you plenty of work to do while your not at college in your own time writing essays and taking photos, our last was a documentary style photography where you had to take 10-15 images which each image had to mean something and all linked to each other .
There are younger students who are 18 doing the same course who have just finished a National diploma in photography for the last 2 years, and now moved onto this.
search you nearest college and ask them about a course for you daughter.
