I am doing AS level photography and I need another photographer to add to my critical studies. So does anybody know of any photographers that use a colour popping style? (Where the image is in black and white with one or more objects in colour.)

Matt

It is called selective colouring not colour popping I think.

Thanks, I will have a look at some wedding photographers.
If you search colour popping on the internet it comes up with a lot of results but I may get more from selective colouring, I'll try that thanks.

Here is one I did recently but people tend not to spot the colour bit.

A lot of wedding togs don't like selective colouring, but unfortunately many clients do. ;-)

I'd go with the term "selective colouring" too, although I don't like it as a rule. "Colour popping" for me suggests pumping up the saturation and contrast.

just out of curiosity then why then if you google "colour pop" do a whole a bunch of sites including many photography sites show images of "selective colouring". Is this a case of language and words evolving and does it really make a difference?

I don't think that there's a universally-accepted name for the technique, indeed, in many other forums that I've seen, the term 'selective desaturation' is used.

selective colouring or what to do with a crap image as I like to call it lol

Certainly easy to do in Lightroom with a preset. Takes 2 seconds.
