Photographers Rights - IPhone app

Assuming you're not going out of your way to bother people, then ejecting someone for something that's permitted, just because they can, is why many people have such low opinions of security guards.

Ejecting one person purely for taking a photo in a photo-permitting place, and letting everyone else carry on would be like throwing someone out for shopping at one of the stores, or wearing their watch on their right arm.
.

True - but i doubt many security guards actually do that - my suspicion is that most of these incidents (excepting ones togs deliberately provoke) start with a complaint to security for a 'concerned' (aka paranoid) member of the public about the 'strange man taking photos of my kids' or 'behaving suspiciously' even if the tog isnt doing anything of the sort.

at that point the law certainly allows security to ask you to stop or leave private premises even where there isnt a blanket ban on the grounds that you are upsetting other visitors

of course personally I don't think it should be handled like that ( i would prefer a tactful word to find out what he's actually photographing and then a cheerful carry on if he's on the up and up) but in these days of paranoia I can see why operators might instruct their security people to err on the side of caution

This is also why its a bad idea to be an arse in these situations both becausetheres no point in reinforcing a predjudiced belief that togs are touble makers , and also because if security were thinking of giving you the benefit of the doubt, reacting negatively to a simple enquiry may make it less likely that they will.
