Photographer needed for a Surprise Birthday Party: free or cheap!

I've got a sink that needs unblocking, is there a plumber on here that could come and do it for free ?

I will let you use me as a referral and will tell all my friends how great you were (and how free you were) so I am sure you will get some more free business from it.

Cant see anyone being interested in it can you?

I aren't sure what makes photography so different (maybe the number of wannabees with cameras) but it seems to be the one industry where people can put out requests for someone to work for free and on many occasions someone will take them up on it because they are hungry for portfolios shots.

I would bet that if this was a request to cover a wedding there would be multiple people offering to do it.

TBH, if it was closer to me then I'd probably volunteer. I thought quite a few people would.

Just for the experience and confidence building!

Try working in IT, everyone seems to think that you will spend your whole night sorting out their pc because they downloaded a virus from a dodgy site and all for a few cups of tea.......... oh, and data recovery no matter how many times you told them to back up the important stuff.......... ggrrrr :bang:

Sorry got 'into' the moment there, :help: please carry on.

In all walks of life, you get Joey who wants the whole world to do something for free for him - and let's face it, we've all wanted something for free too.

I have to be honest, for things like that there have been times when I've been a spraffa (but not to that extent) and been frank in a "I have £x, I know it's not alot, but could you do anything for it?" - much more likely to get a "yes" than a "sod off" that way IMHO.

Sometimes though, it's just ignorance, people think "oooh they have the stuff, so it won't cost them anything to do it...so I'll ak if they'll do it for free!"

Having taken redundancy from my IT job last year but still being the "go to guy" for friends and family and ex colleagues for IT issues I can completely relate to that....to the point where I currently have a next door neighbours laptop next to my desk waiting to be reinstalled.

Just out of interest, were you a pro tog from the first day you picked up a camera? Were you never (as you put it) a "wannabee"? Isn't this a bit like a driver with a full driving license driving behind a learner driver and saying "oh, I was never that bad!"........my point being, we all have to start somehwhere and can't all be as good as you are from Day 1, so what would be wrong with volunteering to build up their portfolio? Oh, and not everyone can afford to pay for the services of a pro tog and I am just surprised that some of you guys have just laid in to the OP when what they asked was quite an innocent question and has since posting admitted that it was quite a silly question to ask in this forum.
