Evening,

juist thought i would let you know of the fantastic service i recieved

signed up saturday as i see "50 free prints" offer when signing up, 6x4 prints and i pay for delivery £1.50

ordered prints (MotoGP ones, 50 in total) confirmed order and get confirmation from them, then two hours later a confirmation to say they are in dispatch

and guess what, first thing this morning the postie drops off 50 prints

awesome service and highly recommended

i will use them again

just got myself for 90 free prints :)

Despite all the recent photobox horror stories I placed an order late afternoon Wednesday last week for 30 12x8 prints from them. Bit nervous, but the prints weren't urgent so if they were wrong I could order else where and all would be ok.
Thursday 8am, postie drops the prints off and they are perfect, colour is right, print is top notch. So not sure if they have listened to the masses, but I have recieved excellent service from them.

I've never had any problems with photobox, been using them for years (when they were icdphotos.co.uk) and always got the prints next-day. Ordered about 70 on Sunday, got email today saying they were shipped, i'm sure they'll arrive tomorrow and quality will be fab. Never had a reason to look elsewhere tbh.

They've always been great for general snaps and the speed of service is outstanding. For top quality prints though they're just not quite at the best and I find Loxley really do surpass them on that resect. I generally use Photobox for personal stuff (like giving photos to family) as the price is great and Loxley for professional shots as the quality is great.

The "horror stories" are probably a bit OTT I think. Photobox always seem to print a little dark for me and that's why I use Loxley for stuff I sell.

Right i have decided i'm going to join photobox, I noticed on thier site that if someone refers me then they will get 50 free prints......so if anyone wishes to grab some free prints and refer me......let me know....otherwise i shall join anyway......just thought someone might like to take advantage......cheers xx

I found photobox a little dark sometimes but the majority were fine, have not used them for a while with all the trouble they were having with the new site, I hear there ok now, used to be great value for money.

I've used them quite a bit to buy stuff for a charity I support and have always been delighted with their service.

I find them excellent service and quality (if a little dark - although I thought that might have been just my monitor). They had a dodgy patch a while ago when it took ages to place an order because their new website was sooo slow.

Seems much better now though.

Record so far was placing an order at 1201, and getting the 'order dispatched' email at 1252. Can't argue with that!

Hi everyone

I've been using Photobox for a number of years now, and have been happy with the print quality as well as the level of service. However, I have been very disappointed with my latest prints from them as they were very dark.

After a prompt response to my email, they kindly offered to reprint them for me......in fact they have done this three times, and unfortunately each batch saw no improvement whatsoever. I decided to order the same photos using the service offered by Apple as a comparison, in case the issue was with the calibration of my monitor.

Conclusion: the difference in print quality was remarkable. The prints from Apple made the ones from Photobox look even more inferior!
They were a lot brighter - the colours were more true to life - and they were a lot sharper.

I sincerely hope Photobox listen to their 'loyal' customers and take steps to resolve this issue. From reading other posts on here I know I'm not the first person to comment on the prints being dark.

The prints referred to were 6"x4". I have not had any problems with enlargements. I believe they use a different printer for the larger prints.

I'm about to place my first order with Loxley Colour. I'd be interested to hear from those of you who have used them - positive and negative (if any) feedback.

Thanks!

just got some 6x4 today which are horribly dark, theyre not dark at my end and i use calibration tools.

i usually send prints direct to customers so i fear what ive been sending them.

I also had some pics deivered 10 x 8 wedding pics, they chopped the top of the head of one so i quickly had a copy done truprint in half an hour and the difference was quite amazing, it was so much better colour and brighter.
i doubt i will use photobox again.
which is sad cause the ease of use attracts me.

I'm looking for a place to get a print (maybe several) done, and I've read no end of complaints on TP and other places about Photobox, although from what some people say they used to be very good.

I've read about Togsprint now and am considering them, but the prices put me off a lot (I'm not saying they're expensive because I don't know the comparison with other places yet, but they are more than the 'cheapo' places like Photobox. Of course I'm sure you get more for your money). I guess this probably isn't the thread for asking advice on other suppliers, so I'll keep doing my research. :)

i've used a few companies even some mentioned here and would only use photobox from now on, had many problems with other companies in the past

So you've not had problems with dark prints from Photobox then?

What problems have you had with the other companies?

no problems no. only slight problem i've had was there cropping system on there site, i used that and didnt crop them before getting them, not a huge problem as they still turned out fine

had problems with togsprint a while ago but it was more of a delivery issue and something not being delivered but Lee went out his way to resolve the issues (took around 4/5 weeks in total)

You've been lucky then. As per my earlier post (#12) I've had dark prints from them with my last few orders.

Have you used 'Loxley Colour'?

I've had a few hassles with photobox lately. Including partial deliveries, orders not being delivered at all, dark prints the lot. Having said that they are still a good convenient way of getting a lot of shots printed in a hurry, deliveries have always been really quick.

Dscolour labs quality seems to be better but they can't seem to mix finishes on one order which is another inconvenience.

i havent no, i usually print my own now. tried another company but cant remember who and the prints were pants to

I've used DSColourLabs recently for 6"x4"s and found the quality to be much better than the recent batch from Photobox.

I've deleted what I had here regarding Loxley as I have found more information on their site now. I will just say though that I very much dislike the way you cannot even see their price list without registering.

Right.......it's been a while since I've used Photobox for 6"x4" prints due to problems with quality, especially dark prints!

Has anyone used them recently, i.e. during the last couple of months? If so what has the print quality been like?

 or

I made the mistake of using them in the past and learnt the lesson. However, I have a free voucher for them the other week so I gave them a try. I ordered a 50x50cms print. Guess what..........

Its as dark as hell and only 48.8cms square! Any future vouchers will go next to the toilet I think.

Yeah, since boycotting Photobox for prints I've been using dscolourlabs.......and have been extremely pleased with the results

However, back to my original question though........

That was the same for me until recently.

I had no problems with large prints......it was just the 6"x4"s that I had problems with.....on numerous occasions! I believe they use a different printer for the larger prints.

I hope they've taken on board recent feedback then! I'll try them again and see if they've improved.

Cheers MD
