Alright guys

Now i know this has probably been asked millions of times but i was asked by a friend of mine to recommend people who make photobooks. They tried 1 or 2 and werent really happy with the quality.

They are just after a nice album for their holiday shots, so they can show granny instead of slideshows on laptops as granny apparently cant keep up! ;) Hehe.

Members of this forum get a discount from Blurb at present. Never used them myself but heard lots of good things about them.

See Linky for more info and promo code

If you've got a Mac, you can use iPhoto to make one and they are VERY good. I just got an A4 one made and it arrived fairly promptly and the quality is amazing. They look so professional. (A bit pricey though - hardback with flap cover, A4, 22 pages - £25 posted).

Anyone used photobox, snapfish or DS colour labs for photobooks?

I've used Blurb in the past and have been more than happy with the results.

One of the better versions of software to compile the book too IMO. Well worth giving them a go, especially with the discount TP members now enjoy.

I've used Blurb too....very good service and price!

Couldn't fathom how to move text around on pages though (probably just me being blonde)....so ended up designing each page in Photoshop then just plonking the whole thing in as a full page image, but did the trick nicely!

Im going to try out blurb for my stuff, but just wondered what everyone elses opinions were :)

Any other suggestions or is everyone happy with blurb?

Burb is good, tried one with the discount, no probs.

If you want higher quality(and you pay for it), and Blurbs no slouch on quality thenmypublisher.com are very good.

I have had 10 now done by photobox and appart from one. which had 2 OOF pages (Which they replaced in 48 hours) I have had nothing but good service from them..

Blurb gets a  from me too :D The quality is great, the delivery timescales are great and the pricing is great :D:D:D

I can highly recommend myphotobook.co.uk.

Had two large holiday albums and two smaller family albums from them, superb quality, and they provided a free replacement (ie a duplicate ) album when one received minor damage to the cover during postage. No quibbles, no hassle, no demand for return of the original album.

I've used photobox and they were fine with quick service.... have since used myphotobook.co.uk and am really pleased with th quality and print BUT they are a bit slow....

photobox thumbs up.

recently discovered ''mycreations.co.uk''

dont know about the quality cause is has not arrived yet [ordered yesterday] but the layout possibilitys are great.

I've had 4 from Photobox and all very good.

However....isn't there always one....... their web page was total crap for creating them at the time (a year ago). Four crashes with 3 different browsers, an hour's work lost each time and back to square one. The thumbnails were too small making it difficult to differentiate similar pictures and get them in the right order. So I renamed them to put them in the right order, but they failed to recognise the numerical sequence correctly.

The A4 hardback books have a cutout on the front cover. The first page downsizes the photo to appear in this cutout, effectively wasting a page. The last page also downsizes the photo and prints a bar code, again wasting a shot. Both pages that you pay for. But I did get one of the books to produce a full size photo on the last page somehow, but still with a barcode.

I had a small A5 book done by MyPhotoBook. Very good quality, but took nearly 3 weeks to arrive.

Above all, I don't think Photobook can be beaten on price when they have one of their offers on. They don't give much time between announcing an offer and expiry, so it's worthwhile having one uploaded, created, and waiting to be purchased when an offer appears.

Thanks for the replys guys

I've had one done by Photobox- which I was very pleased with.

I've also had one done with myphotobook - and that was excellent. The quality of the book, the quality of the pages and the quality of the images were all top notch. The only downside, as others have mentioned, was that the delivery time was very slow - but it was well worth waiting for.

I'll definitely use them again in the future.

I've only tried Photobox. Their photobooks come out really nice quality. The only downside is the slightly inflexible choice of page layouts, which always meant I had to crop my images at one edge or another.

I've used photobox, yophoto and blurb.

Yophoto was fine for overall quality, its a book and looks good but did not really have a wow factor.

Photobox was ok on quality (no wow factor though), the software was poor (if you want full page images you have to guess at the size as the book does not print at the size shown in the software) and delivery was poor.

The best by far for quality, ease of use of the software and punctual delivery was blurb.

The last book I ordered from blurb I used the heavier paper and the wrap around cover and it really looked excellent. I will be using blurb exclusively in the future for books.

I would recommend Photobox. I have had two albums from them recently. Good price and quick turnaround.

The software to work on to load the album is also easy to use.

I've been thinking about making a photobook for a while for my final major at college, using all music photography.
