Can i have some recomendations for photobooks please, need to be good quality. have tried Photobox and currently waiting delivery on a 3rd attempt from them to get it right. Will say there customer services are great and they re-print with no quibble but its left me with very little faith in them at all

thanks

Have you tried Blurb ?

I've used Blurb a few times. Shipping is a bit expensive but the quality is good.

I have used Cewe Photoworld before with good results. How easy is Blurb to use Photoworld have a app you can use to help lay the book out. I am looking at getting some printed for a charity event and looking at blurb they appear to be a lot cheaper.

If you have Lightroom the Blurb pre-set is already in the Books module.

I've heard good things about MagCloud, and their perfect-bound magazines are sort of like paperback books...

Another question can you have multiple pictures on one page using blurb?

It's in the link;

Order by 18th Dec and The total value of the voucher is valid until 23:59 on 28th February 2016

Thank you @suggs for posting this.

And thank you to everyone for the info about Blurb they appear the answer for me to get the photo books printed especially as we can sell them through them at no extra cost. The only downside I can see is they don't appear to have a free layout assistant

They used to have layout software called 'Bookwright'. Perhaps they have binned it?

Be prepared to be bombarded with marketing emails! lol

They still have it downloaded it last night, but I couldn't see an option to automatically place the photos into the book I'll have a look again tonight.

I think being bombarded with marketing is something you have accept these day. As long as I can raise some money for charity I don't mind

Yes they still use an app called bookwrite which is easy enough although not perfect. I found I'd added page numbers twice but couldn't see that in preview, as luck would have it I'd order a pdf format as well and spotted it there before the print started.

Just seen a book from Apple of friends daughters wedding and am very impressed by the quality. Probably not the cheapest but definitely a nice looking book.

I've used Blurb for years and have loads of books printed by them using Booksmart and this past 6 months in Lightroom, and have always been very happy. However, I did create some magazines last year in Bookwright and the fonts xxcked up royally in the printed matter. When I complained they said, Ah yes, we know about that issue, it's a bit of a problem. Would you like a reprint or refund? Needless to say I asked for a refund. Hopefully they've sorted it since then (August last year), but I'd stick to the more basic fonts they have available..........

Thanks folks, last time i looked there was no reply's now theres loads lol

Issue i had with photobox was the images being very overexposed, they did however reprint and on the 3rd attempt it was 99.9 percent good. Having spoken with them it seems the issue was that they have an auto correct mode that scans images and adjusts them without Human input. On the last reprint they had turned it off and the result was good, they have now turned off the auto correct on my account so should be ok in the future, i have ordered a calendar so will see how that comes out.

On a side note i tried Artisan state who are doing a try out offer for just 5 dollars plus post on many products including books, i gave it a go and was about £10 delivered and although its a small book for that deal ( 8x6) it is a lay flat and the image quality and build quality turned out to be 100 percent. They do have pretty bad reviews though but i was very happy with what i got. I intend to order a full size leather bound book from them and see how it turns out, can pay with paypal so theres some protection if it goes wrong...

One other thing with Blurb, if you are on their mailing list, several times a year they send out limited time offers for up to 50% off. It's well worth having a book prepared and ready to go, in anticipation of these, as their regular prices are steep and their volume discounts aren't up to much.

They appear to be considerably cheaper then Photoworld

This is so true about Blurb, as I uploaded a book last night and they sent me a 40% discount offer. If I hadn't checked my emails just before paying I'd have missed that and used a 30% offer I had ready.

I used Photobox and I had the option to tick-untick the auto correct which I unticked.
However, the Matt cover option was ticked by me and the final print came gloss covered.
So having gone back & forth a few pages when setting up the book originally it turns out any extra options are turned off, all except their logo removal for an extra £7.
I asked also asked about the huge 2"x1/2" bar code on the final (inside) page of the lay flat book and was informed it wouldn't be there.

What arrived was a gloss cover, not Matt, tick box un-ticked by their rubbish site.
Air bubbles to the inside covers.
A scratch to the rear cover.
And the huge bar code still in place!

But he auto correct remained un-ticked and so the actual prints on their excellent 380gsm paper was superb.

They did offer a re-print without quibble but due to the bar code info I originally got being wrong and it, the bar code would remain, I got full refund also no issue with this.

Shame about the huge bar code on the last inside photo, as a wedding album what does anyone here feel about giving a customer an album with a bar code near the bottom of a photo?

Was the barcode on the actual image or the inside cover?

Here is the actual album from my saved creations as Photobox call it.

As you can see, well in my opinion anyway, the bar code is unacceptable for a customers wedding album.
Especially as they charge £7 to remove their logo!
And more to the point I have since found other suppliers that provide albums A3+ lay flat style without the bar code.
The right side is the un-printed inside cover, the left side is the final printed page.
The inside cover has a glued over paper finish which as mentioned had air bubbles.

This is A3+ for one side not both so laid open this is double A3+ albeit next to each other not A2+ ish.

I am interested in what others think, am I being too fussy?

I realise they do need some sort of recognition system to identify the individual product should there be any issues or a reprint/another copy required but I think that is unacceptable

Well yesterday I ordered one form Blurb should have it before Christmas will be interested to see how it comes out. If I'm happy with it then I can set up a page to sell them for the charity

with my photobox book the barcode was on the right hand side, bottom left corner on the plain black inside cover and not under the last photo
