How about 1 "free for all" week as well? I.e. no theme, just photo what you want. Somewhere along the line you've a chance of 1 open week to take the pressure off!

How does this work, everyone gets given the same theme each week?

That's the basic idea. Simon draws, or gets someone to draw a theme from the bag, and we all shoot something to fit that theme. It's interesting to see the different interpretations each week. There are people doing 52's but not following our themes, and that's fine too.

Cheers, I could do with some of this in order to force me to actually use the stuff I've got.

Count me in.

i think i am ready to attempt a 52 like this and so im gonna give it a shot. in fact my new years resolution is 1920x1080:D jokes its actually to start sending in my pictures to DSLR user magazine and to post more up on here aswell as enter photography competitions.

Great to see how much interest there is for next year. I hope that you all do decide to join in and I look forward to seeing your threads :)

(Only downside is that's even more time for me to spend on here on a Sunday night . . . if I'm not careful it could end up as grounds for divorce! ;) )

Too many words for my brain to process, but looking forward to joining in when they're being fed to me one at a time.

Welcome aboard everyone joining up

Count me In for New Year. Haven't got out as much this year due to my wife's illness. So will be looking to enjoy all your company and the friendly banter that goes on..

There are RESHOOT weeks where a RESHOOT card is pulled and then another theme. You then have the choice to either

a) RESHOOT a theme from a previous week
b) Shoot the new theme
c) both a) and b)

It gives a little bit of a rest for those that want it and also enables you to see how you are progressing.

However, there is nothing stopping you including in your own personal rules the ability to play a JOKER and taking a week off the theme.

Oooh, can we all be given something like 2 jokers, maybe?

Or are you saying to literally just of your own accord do what you want?

It's your project, your rules (cop out or what ).

Personally if I wanted to use JOKERS I would state how many I would allow myself during the year at the start of the year e.g. 1 JOKER and it mustn't be used if the theme Grunge is pulled ;)

LOVE IT!!!!

I think I shall do 2 jokers, one can be used as crowbar[so will have to be somehow a little on theme], and one as complete free for all. I like that idea.

I have never attempted something like this before. Seems like a good way to broaden my horizon photographically speaking.

Welcome to all those wanting to join in next year

You'll be amazed at how much you'll get out of it. It's certainly been the only reason some weeks that I've got my camera out.

Another vote for ditching all the themes we've had already.

There's a few from me. And I too like the idea of a poem one. Or we could all commit to posting one in John's thread :D

Anyway, only 2 left for this year :woot::woot:

Glad people like the poem idea - that's how I started my 2009 52 it it was a good way to get the creative juices flowing :)

I have to say, personally, unless exclusivley dog related, I'm not a fan of the poem idea. Or poetry itself. [sorry :(]
I'm liking my suggestion of the Joker even more now :P

Oooh, yes, there are only 51weeks to a year aren't there :whistling::exit:

Ah but what if you get to pick the poem - dog related would be no problem then

Seeing as I'm making things pretty difficult as it stands by shooting all on film, I think I shall be employing this new "2 jokers" thing too!

Some of the suggested themes look pretty impossible to me. Please can you close the list now -- otherwise I am going to need about 10 jokers! :help:

OK, I think there is enough for me to create a whole new set (+ Grunge)

I'll pull together the list and post a new thread about Photo52 2010 between now and the new year.

:D

Thankyou

Wow, I've just got round to listing all the themes on my PC in preparation for creating the cards for the bag; there are 155 themes on my list

I've not added all the themes as some were too close to others. I've combined a few in to a larger more expansive them and I've also added some belters of my own including a few Homographs to really see peoples minds work :D

I think that's gonna need some Reading and thinking. Will have to revisit when I'm not on a mobile device. Simon are you gonna list up the victims ;) volunteers as well ?
