Photo52 2012 : Join In !!! : Week 52 Busy

I guess the answer to "why?" is "because it'd be fun" :)

The additional things that largely failed before were still fun ideas, but they failed because they were hard to do; you had to trawl through everyone's threads to find your favourites.

I think the point of Andy's suggestion was that it'd be nice to see our "friends" from this challenge, so putting it in another section makes no sense.

But anyway, it's not compulsory!!!

I couldn't have put it better.

Sheesh

So why didn't you :|

Er, I hope that I have not started any friction here. :)

I just wanted to know the reason for a SP. I appreciate the points made by Mark in post #1755.

The thread and Challenge are friendly and I was not trying to be confrontational. I often think that I try to say too much :D so I tried to be to the point with 'Why?' :cuckoo:

On the point of more than one shot per theme, I have sometimes posted more than one cos I wanted views on them and couldn't really make up my mind. My shots for 'Spread' are cases in point because altho #1 was my original choice I did not know how it would be received. In fact, much better than I thought.

So again I would agree with Mark on "unlimited, but with a fair use policy, so that no-one dominates the main thread."

See what I mean about going on too much. :bonk:

OK, everyone (including Lynne :D) who's up for a TP 52 additional week??

I propose a self portrait :D. Now, it doesn't have to be a traditional SP. it can be minimal, abstract, silhouette, but you should be in the photograph.

Now, for a shy guy, I've never been averse to plonking myself in front if the camera for a self portrait.

So, I expect everyone to take part....:rules:

Cheers.

:razz:.....I may possibly , just maybe , give this a go but it won't be a traditional one...my face will be hidden for a start ! Actually thats just given me an idea.....:D

jeez...you don't nip in here for a few days & the boys are getting restless :p

I for one am a little confused ( now't new there ! ).....so now we have to post pictures only in the picture thread & then put them in our main thread as well  Then we put a link in the picture only thread to our main thread for comments ? Hoping I got that right....I'll go with the flow but does seem a little like extra work...............

So , how do you put a link in the picture thread & do you have to do it everytime ? Or do you put it in your sig ? & if it's in your sig will it show if you post more than once on the same page in the picture thread ?

I'm getting more befuddled now

As of the sp....maybe in my bike gear complete with helemt cos I ain't being responsible for everyone's screens cracking

I thought it would be extra work too Lynne, posting our pics in 2 places and switching back and forth for comments - however after I looked at the thread Mark set up it does look ok, and you don't need the pic in both threads - pic in one, comments in t'other :)

and no don't put the link in your sig cos it won't always show - you'd need a new link per post anyway to take peeps to the actual page you're on

I know this not the subject that is being discussed at present but...

I'm thinking about joining in next year and was wondering when the post for next years will be going up to start getting enteries? I suspect it's much closer to the end of the year I'd just like to know when I should be looking out for it.

Thanks, and obviously i'd adhere to any rules which are in place next year.

What's wrong with the way it is at the moment! Too many people over complicating things. You take a photograph, you upload it, you comment; job done!

Hi Steve....you've sort of hit the nail on the head....at this time of the year , with only a handfull of people still taking part , the commenting is much much easier & possibly there is no need for a separate pictures thread.
BUT
at the start of the challenge , way back in January , there were over 100 people posting in threads...& that is one major headache to keep up with believe me :) I'm kind hoping that this new system will make the 1st 4 months considerably easier

Hi Macs...glad to have another one on board for next year...tis a madhouse but a fun house

Can't remember when SarahLee started this years challenge off but suspect it'll be late december .

Thanks. I'll keep an eye out this time next month.

Although i'm starting to re'think the idea of doing this. I've just looked at the list of themes from this year, some i'll be ok with but there are a lot i've no idea what i'd do for them...

Hi, Rob, don't be out off by the themes, what may appear a hard theme at first glance, often turns out much easier given a day or two (of course, the converse has also been the case :D).

Jump aboard in 2013 and enjoy

Wait 'till you've been doing it for a year, trying to keep up with commenting on everyone's threads, then you'll know :). The new way (the one we're using for the last few weeks this year), isn't much different to the POTY competition, where even if you don't look at it until November, as I just have, you can easily see all the submissions.

Try doing that with the 52/2012!

Lynne, the only reason to post the shot in your own thread, not just the photos one, is to keep comments in context: ie anyone reading the comments can see the photo they relate to.

By far the easiest way to do it is to post in your own thread as you always did, but before you submit that post, copy everything. Submit, then go to the submissions thread and paste what you copied into a new post. Add a link to your thread (a link to the photo in your thread is ideal, but just a link to the first page is perfectly OK), and you're done.

As compensation, there should be no need to edit the spreadsheet now.

I'm still liking the thread for the image submissions. Just gone through them a post at a time and I am caught up with comments, well for now I am

I need some inspiration from somewhere though, I am shattered! Trying to get everything ready for when baby arrives is taking my mind away from the pics. I tried a shadow pic on my phone today which is on flickr, but it hasn't worked as well as I thought, so back to the drawing board for shadow. I also want something a bit better for colour as well. I want to reshoot friendship as well, so will try and get 3 pics I am happy with by the end of this week, I hope!

Just had to come in & share my good news........not normally into doin this but so giddy just had to tell someone :D

I've just won last months POTY 2 comp :woot::woot:

grinning like a cheshire cat :D:D

Well done

Yaaaaay congratulations, is that two wins in a row? How do you enter the POTY comp? I'd like to do it next year.

Links to the comps are in my signature Marsha

I saw that Lynne, and your photo; it was extremely well deserved! Congratulations :)

Cheers Michael, I'll take a look at some point.

I agree with Andy, there have been some amazing interpretations of this wees theme so far.
I bought a prop for it today, fingers crossed I'll get time to do it tomorrow, sick child, baking mince pies and work may upset photography plans though!

still pondering a theme for next year...as the point of this is to improve my skills I think maybe next year I will use a theme that takes me outside my comfort zone, like maybe try to do them all as still life? I'd never done any indoors 'studio' type stuff before this and it would be nice to concentrate on it, do some smoke shots or more watery ones - what do you think?

Yes only 4 more and I am still 2 behind!
I'll be a week behind in just under five hours :bonk: I've got my object for shadow, just no time yet. The coughing midgets kept me up until 4 this morning then up with them at 7 and back to bed until 11am! My mince pies took priority before work, now I'm at work bored and praying for fog and an early finish!

Although I think tomorrow is fairly busy as well:eek: I am hoping a little studio hire session on Sunday will provide the opportunity to maybe shoot my shadow shot and tomorrow's theme! We'll see.

I think you should do whatever you enjoy and or whatever challenges you. Still life is as simple or as difficult as you choose it to be! Anything that gets you outside your comfort zone is always going to help push your boundaries and hopefully help you learn new things! I know I've learnt heaps this year, definitely loads left though!

Glow? ummmmm :)

Thought we had glow last year, but we didn't. Got a few ideas and props

I think I may have missed a few of your submissions but will catch up today.

Cheers all

Slow week for comments I think? Maybe not, but some notable "regulars" appear to be away!

Looking forward to the new theme: only 3 to go!

You're forgiven ;) !!!!!

It's funny, now that we're getting to the end, I'm almost as excited as I was at the beginning!
