I would certainly be up for that Andy, sounds like quite a challenge.
It would certainly concentrate ones mind on all elements of the photograph.

Is your thinking to do it towards a weekly theme?
Whatever the theme drawn, the individual entry for that theme must be SOOC?

Hi, you got it.

If we get a few involved we could agree on, say, week 40 as SOCO week.

Cheers.

Up. I like!!

For SOOC, I'm in if it's week 40. However, what is the definition of SOOC? For example, if I shoot in raw, am I allowed to apply a little sharpenning; I mean, if I shot in jpeg, there'd be sharpenning applied by the camera, so why not for raw? Can I add my watermark? Can I use "scene modes", like sepia or B&W? Can I remove any dust bunnies? Can I add a frame to present my SOOC shot? Can I use in camera HDR?

I guess sensibly SOOC means composition, crop, included elements (no cloning out or pasting in), exposure and colour (but what about B&W; you can't shoot in B&W in raw), remain untouched?

Even tweaking the exposure of a raw file, I'd normally concider SOOC, because it's part of processing to me, not post processing.

I would think it means exactly what it says on the tin! I guess if you only shoot in raw a slight sharpen is acceptable as it's needed. But I was thinking that for it to be SOOC I would use the JPEG and do nothing to it, any B&W/ Sepia ideas would need shooting that way at the time!

I'm UP for sooc (lol) but to make it easier I think we should do as Marsha suggests and have no pp at all, no crop or straighten or sharpen - will be cool

I guess we could maybe have a dedicated thread for the sooc submissions and our own threads show the pp version?

great idea though

I am with Marsha and Summer for the SOOC week, just that no cropping, sharpening or any other tweaks. Thats the challenge for me, to really concentrate on the composition, light etc.

Good idea, but dam this reminds me I've STILL not done the best shot thing for the first half of the year :coat:

I tried doing my reshoot last night, it was rubbish and after 20 mins of trying to 'fix' it in PP I deleted it in total with the attitude 'if it needs that much work it's not worth the effort and it was clearly pants in the first place!'

aw Marsha :( true enough though I guess. For me it is straightening - don't think I've ever taken a pic that didn't need straightening, even when using a tripod with built-in spirit level

Evening All... I'm back from my week away, and hopefully have 2 or 3 shots that will help me catch up... have 50gb of images to troll through so will not get any comments done until tomorrow evening - Sorry :(

But least life will be back to normal - How depressing is that :'(

Hi DK  welcome back. 40gb  that would take me a year to sort out!
It's taking me that long too... not even 1/3 of the way through just sorting out 'junkers' let alone proper pp :bang:

ALERT THE MEDIA, I've finally caught up with everyone's thread:banana:

I know it won't last and there are new people I've not visited yet, but I just had to gloat for a second!!!
Well done you

I hope to be saying that towards the end of this week... have a Christening tomorrow so out most of the daytime again :shake:

Welcome back Dk! Nice one for catching up Marsha, Certainly worth a gloat!

I have just been going through nearly 600 pics of the Red Arrows from today. At least I got my picture for up!

Cheers Michael :)

Look forward to seeing the Red Arrows Pics

I'm just back from the Christening... but have had Pics from there pushed up the queue for the Sister-In-Law, gawd :help:

Right... apologies to those I haven't got around too yet, seems to have taken me 2 hours to catch up on 6 threads.... will try catch up to the rest over the next couple of evenings, as also need to do some more editing on my Scotland shots... Damn this hobby takes up time when you're behind :D

Hello all, 22:41 and we have 8 Ups submitted.
Woohoo and I'm one of them:woot::banana:

But my gloating is over, behind on everyone's threads again:bonk:

Oh well, I have just enjoyed four days off shift (not sick or broken) with the kids at nursery and had a much needed rest! Back to work tomorrow so should be time to catch up then;)

I hate having one of those job things - totally gets in the way of my hobbies. Unfortunately in the case of photography it also pays for them!

Where's this morning's theme then... hoping it'll inspire me to find some time this weekend despite having the SIL and her kids to stay.

True. Mine is only going to bother me for another 568 days when I can retire :D

Now where's the new theme?

Sorry. A bit slow this morning, had to wait for Firefox to install some updates first.

Well done to everyone still hanging in there !!!

And don't forget that we have a competition running in September to find the best piece of critique . . . if you see one remember to nominate it by following the link in my signature. You could both win a prize.

(Discussion Thread here)

Thanks for posting up Sarah...Duo...another that should provied varied images & probably the od headache along the way

Week 40....SOOC ? You just know the theme will scream out for OTT PP don't you :D FWIW I think sharpening should be permitted , if you shoot RAW it's essential & if jPeg the camera does it for you . Plus if you get a shot thats superb you'll want it in good enough quality to print .

Just a mention...last week we've had some superb sunsets , not that I've had the time to get out & shoot any of them mind ! Tomorrow I really need a belting sunset.....whats the betting it ain't gonna happen :D
