Photo52 2012 : Join In !!! : Week 52 Busy

Hiya Dawn, missed the posts about you doing the spreadsheet. Thanks very much for doing this. Much appreciated. It also now in my signature too

You are welcome Michael, I know you made good use of the spreadsheet last year.

It seems like a good idea to track progress.
But do we need to complete it ourselves? Somehow?

Hi Mike, yes you complete it yourself. All you need to do is click on the spreadsheet link, find your name in the list (which is in alphabetical order) and enter an 'X' in the appropriate column for the weeks you have finished. When you close the spreadsheet, the changes should be automatically saved. Hope this makes sense, if not and you have more questions, please ask and I will try to help.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Fear... I don't like the sound of that! :/

I've got an idea for fear that I really like, made a rough sketch of how I want it to look but can't nail it with the camera!

Going to try again tomorrow

Sketches  strewth mate, that`s serious

Anyone on flickr should join the group Clawz set up especially for this, as it makes things a lot easier to track.

Ive now also made a decision on what im going to shoot. Im liking this theme a lot, and hope im able to translate the shot I have in my head into a workable picture. Now I have to go out and scout some locations :D :bonk:

You hankering for a Friday night/Saturday morning shout then?

You have to mate when you have the artist talents of a dead frog, I am that frog :)

BS mate .... not from wht i`ve seen on your stream

But saying that, sketches do seem a good idea :D

I'd just like to add my thanks to Dawn for putting together the spreadsheet again this year - it makes it a lot easier to keep track of all the threads.
It's great to see such a good take-up and it'll be even better if we can get a record number of participants lasting through to week 52 - although it is making commenting on every thread every week an impossibility at the moment

And to save all the anxiety of waiting for threads - 8:30ish is probably going to be the normal Saturday morning posting time :)

Many thanks for adding the spreadsheet to the 1st post in here Sarah...& for continuing to punish us each week

Thanks Sarah, you are most welcome. It was my way of contributing towards helping this years Photo52 crew because I know how useful it was to have the same spreadsheet last year.

Indeed it is great to see so many people signed up to this year's challenge and do hope the majority see it through to the end, because it is such a rewarding feeling to achieve same.

I also think your early Saturday morning posting of the new theme is a great idea, especially considering the tender hooks and banter we experienced last year waiting for the evening post. It gives those who don't have much time during the week to focus their attention on the weekend, and provide more time for them to capture their shots.

I am going do my utmost best to support the folk here this year.

Thanks again for your support last year

Cheers

Dawn :)

Where snouts is the spreadsheet

2012 Photo52 spreadsheet

You can find the link in the OP of this thread.

All you have to do is mark, i.e., with an 'X' on your row the particular week/column you have completed.

It is also interactive in the sense that you can click on your fellow team members links via the sheet too.

Any questions, just shout.

Cheers

Dawn :)

So your the person who had a look at my flickr...lol

Thanks for the comment, though much appriciate any feedback get :)

Yeah sketches lol, I know its a bit over the top but I have decided to really think about my photography this year and even take in some courses if I can fit them in around work.

For example for last weeks theme I had a few minutes at work so I sat and thought about how I would do my take, I sketched out on a scrap of paper making arrows and notes on features I want to include, this gives me a way of playing with the composition without having my camera, last week I also made a mock up of my shot at work and took a snap on my iphone which I could then convert to B&W.

So by the time I had got home and got my camera out I already knew what I wanted from the shot, what processing to use etc.

The idea is that at the end of the year I can look back at my favourite shots and look again at the decisions that I took to get to the final image.

I madder than a bag of snakes me.....:cuckoo:

Just checking the spreadsheet and there are a LOT of blanks in the 'direction' column

As has been said, you'll get more feedback if you've filled out this sheet because many members will use this to cross reference and search out new photographs

I believe, as I did last year, if members don't use it, they should be removed, either fully or to a seperate sheet.

Unsure who would do this because, as yet  Dawn (Drodd) who kendly set up the sheet isn't doing the 2012 52.

Just a thought to streamline the spredsheet :D

Looks like everyone is off to a good start, I just did a check in my subscribed threads list. I lost count to somewhere close to 90 project threads. So to those that I have missed, I am sure I will get round to viewing your threads soon!

Hiya Andy,

As you have pointed out .... yes ... there are blanks, and this happened last year too. As the administrator of the sheet I will monitor same and adjust it accordingly. I was thinking of doing is on bi-monthly or quarterly basis, depending on the activity. If you think of it .... you are only 2 weeks into the project and there are many who are not aware of or familiar with the spreadsheet.

However, the spreadsheet should not be the focus here, it is merely a tool ....... it should be the actual project and individual thread that is of importance.

If folk don't want to avail the spreadsheet, so be it ...... in the end they will find their names in Class 2.

Hence why we ended up with so few of us completing last year.

As you know Andy, this is not a challenge to take light-headed and involved a huge degree of dedication.

I have to confess .... it consumed my life last year, hence why I am taking a break this year.

By the time I reached week 52/53 I was physically and emotionally drained to the point that I felt ill.

However, after realising I had DONE IT ..... I felt much better and was so relieved.

Dx

Hi, all, on reflection, perhaps I was a tad hasty with my suggestion :shake:

Just don't want to miss anybody.

Indeed, not long now

I didn't know about the spreadsheet

Thanks to Lynne for adding me to it and thanks to Dawn for creating the spreadsheet.

Week 2 sounds great, fear eh. Off to ponder.

You are most welcome Ben, and I am sure you will find it useful, especially when you get to the last few weeks and you just want to put an 'X' in the column!

Good Luck!

Hiya Ivan, I have added you to the spreadsheet and marked the first week with and 'x'.

Cheers

Dawn :)

I have to apologise that I don't get much time to visit and comment on a lot of threads! I'll try my best though!

On the 'themes' just how tenuous can you be with your interpretation?

Hi there, it's your project, so it can be as far outside the box as you want :)

In fact, I'd encourage this...!
