Photo viewing

Hi all, when I put the card into the computer to view the photos taken i normally view them using windows media or something along those lines. I've just starting playing around with elements 11. But before I use elements is there anything better than the windows media for viewing the picture to choose which ones to keep?
Is there any software that shows the pictures better. Or is the software from windows just as good as any other?

As a Nikon shooter, preferred viewer is ViewNX.

For all other images, I use FastStone Image Viewer http://www.faststone.org/FSViewerDetail.htm

Adobe lightroom, import, organise edit and export all in one program

If you're using Elements 11 why not use the Organiser that comes with it.......

Easy to view and catalog images and then launch directly into the editor when needed - works for me.

I use Zoombrowser that came with my 550D.There's also the new Imagebrowser from Canon as well which probably will replace it but it's not as good yet.

Hi Bmwjc, welcome to TP!

Faststone ImageViewer is free, and excellent. I use it to do just what you suggest; quick view of what's on the card, drag the shots I want into a new folder. Takes moments.
