Hi Guys,

I've looked at a few different versions, but have'nt really seen anything I like. Does anyone know of a suitable vest for carrying some gear its got to be cheap, comfortable and lightweight ?

Thanks,

Paul

The best ones that stop you from looking like a geek are the Alpinestars ones but they're as rare as rocking horse ****.

For long days and if the situation arises I use Web-Tex. I'd be pretty sure that the army togs on here use it whilst in the field.

It will. Web-Tex is used by the forces. I used it when I was a cadet but now it takes the roll on as my lens carrying system. I am the local air cadet squadron photographer and when we are out on hikes for the weekend it proves invaluable.

Damn :) I could have asked my brother for one..... he has left the army now.... but my Son is in the Navy, do you reckon they may have an equivalent :)

Definitely. Give him a buzz, pretty sure he could sneak one from stores.

If not I might be able to get one from RAF Honington for you. We are due an inventory soon. Ill let you know.

Aha, see what you mean, fully customisable to suit ones kit .

What are the containers like ?
Don't suppose you have any pics with your camera gear in it ?

They are very good. But you have to remember that it isnt built for camera gear and a little bit of tweaking is required for things to fit snuggly.

Havnt got pictures though,... sorry.

This is something I've been looking for but I was a bit loathe (tight) to pay £70-80 for a waistcoat with pockets which didn't look like they would hold much kit. I'm often stuck in a field for long periods and having the bag can be a pain so I had a look at some of the military kit mentioned above. I visited my local army surplus store today and got the black Viper South African Assault Vest for £29, the weight is well spread out and one of the pouches is big enough for the 80-200mm lens, the one on the other side can hold the spare body and their are more than enough pockets for filters, lenses, keys, fags, mobile etc. There is a pouch on the back which apparently hold a camel back drinks bladder. It's even fully adjustable for those of us with unusual muscle development. :D

If you're looking for an inexpensive option I would highly recommend it.

That looks impressive Hacker are the pockets fixed or removable.

Just one thing to bear in mind people. If your a wildlife tog then I would get something with either a belt loop or clip locks for the pouches. If they are velcro then it will most likely scare your objective away. When your trying to get all important battery or filter out.

The pockets are fixed but they flatten down if not in use, the modular systems are much more expensive.

Thanks Hacker, it would be good if you give a small review after a few outings:thumbs:
