I know this may be a bit late but i only made my account on the forum yesterday!!!

As soon as i heard that the Royal Pier Hotel in Weston Super Mare where i live was on fire, I immediatley grabbed my camera and went down to the site. I sent some photographs off to the local paper afterwards and they used it on thier site. I am only 14 so this is a big achievement for me :)

The photo was taken on my D300 with nikon 18-135mm lens. C&C welcome :)

Heard it on the radio on the way to collect money for a wedding tog job (mine and my dad's business)

Think they are telling you porkies, if they want it bad enough they will pay. The Trinity Mirror owned paper I used to work for always towed the same sob story..

Trinity Mirrors profits for the last year were.......£70.8M

Yeah i guessed that :lol: but as im sure you can imagine they were inundated with photos, both from pros and people with camera phones e.t.c. the gallery for the event has literally hundreds of pics, it was good just to get my foot in the door.

I don't understand why newspapers and magazines arn't realising how much damage they are doing by fobbing off paid photographers and getting free photos.

I spose the amuter photographers who give away free stuff don't realise either.

It's a bit of a contradiction on the papers/magazine's side since they always claim to "not be able to afford to pay for photos", but by doing so are damaging the industry by draining money from it.

I know you're only 14 which is young, but you need to ask for payment next time. If they say they can't, don't let them publish the photo.
