Sorry to hijack the thread but I too am looking to purchase some photo editing software.

I am looking at Photoshop Elements 11.

Sharpening images is something I would like to be able to do and have read in another thread about High Pass Sharpening, is this possible with the software mentioned above?

I'm pretty sure it is but I don't use elements myself, I'm sure someone who does use it will be along to confirm if it is or not.

If you're going to buy Adobe, and you have a child or grandchild, have a look at the teacher and student edition pricing.

Thanks for the replies I have downloaded Elements from Amazon and it is up and running. I like it. Previously I had Silkypix that came with my camera but found it a bit complicated to use. Mainly I had been editing my pictures with windows photo gallery.

Elements 11 is £32.99 from PC world at the moment if that helps!
