Hi to all i have a photo that needs some adjustments
any one on here does that sort of thing,
its a family portrait that has to many shadows,
and no sparkle in the eyes
just needed it spruced up
to go on a wall.

Try posting it on the thread so that others can see it and see if they can help :)

Can I just add here.... if you are going to post the image Ladybird 2345.. make it a high resolution one. If you just put up a low res image and people work on it, it will look awful if you want it "on the wall" as that implies a large print. Posting up a 800 pixel forum image will be useless. You'll need to post up the full resolution image from the camera... so a dropbox link would be ideal.

Hi thanks for the replies i put 5 photos up of the
family you might be able to put eyes in were there is a squint
or a smile were there is none etc here is the link to my flicker account the sise of photo should be 18x32 inches

Thanks for the pictures - quite a challenge!

I've spent an hour or so on the shots this morning. It's brought up a few questions and challenges!

Who should be in the shot - 5+dog, or just the 5.
What 'look' are you going for? The clean white background, studio shot? or do you want the texture in the background?
Because of the dappled nature of the lighting (which I presume was through trees?) I'm not sure you'll be able to get the 'clean' 'uniform' studio look.
The lighting would look right against a backdrop of trees etc, but it looks 'odd' against the white sheet, perhaps because you expect more uniform lighting for shots against white.
I also don't think a clean white look will work because of the shirts of the two on the left.
There's also quite a lot of movement between the shots which is making replacing faces etc with less harshly lit ones a little challenging.

This is the result of around an hours worth of messing.

It's from a single shot, I've just masked out the background, a bit of dodging and burning on the faces to give a more consistent look to the light, and then applied a Fuji Superia 400 film preset to the image in lightroom to slightly mute the colours and add a small amount of grain to the image as a whole to lessen the effect a little of the white background. I don't think it works, but it's the best I came up with. I tried a B&W conversion too, but there's too much structure in the image to make it work well (for me at least).

Hi david thanks for your input and an excellant finish ,considering the difficulties
forgot to say they dont want the dog in it just the family
i was looking at the guy in the green and his missing arm
there was a shadow off the trees coming from were the sun was
interesting to see the back drop of trees
i usually use a mottled background with an open apeture to give spacious look
your right about the shirts but its still better than what was there
is it possible to stick an arm on and a little more light in the eyes.
Thanks again

Opened in ACR, hit auto, open in PS.
Use crop to add to R/H side.
Added from one of the other pictures, the arm and elbow, and the sleeve of the black T-shirt.
Added to the R/H side of the backdrop.
Removed the unwanted excess from the back of the neck, of the boy in the black T-shirt.
Tided up around the person in the green T-shirts ear.
Used the highlight from the mans right eye, in all the eyes, including the dog.
Dodged the whites of the eyes and lightened the teeth.

Hi not sure if you asking me or not :-) Never heard of iphoto so can't help there. If you were after printing the one I uploaded send me a private message with an email I can send the full size jpeg too. It's 5mb.
The above photo is small size for the web.

An edit from me. - Used the image from Rhodese which was too dark for my taste.

Removing the dog is a tough one! Not spending time - here's 5 minutes. Could be better though.

Edit - Used a different image to overlay the blouse and took about 30 seconds to remove the dog :)
