photo.set up??

I have asked to take some family photo's for my boss and her family I'm more then happy to do this but I am a bit stumpped on how to set it out I don't have a backdrop large enought for the whole family so what kind of location would be best for this kind of shot

Take them to a forest, there's no better time of year than now for nice colours and certainly beats a plain white etc backdrop

But how would I set it up in a Forrest?? I'm don't often do portraits so am totally stumped, would I say have them standing on the edge of the Forrest or go inside it?? If we go in do I have them standing on the path or off the beaten track?? Sorry for so many questions

Hayley, how big is the family group - is it all adults / adults and kids?
Have they given you any idea of what sort of photos they would like?

Knowing a bit more would make it easier for people to make suggestions.

its adults and kids about 3 couples and there kids, they just want a nice family photo to give there mum for christmas
