Photo Recovery From Card or HD?

I have just realised I took photos on my camera (350 D) about a year ago, i've tried to recover the images from my CF card using recovery software but its only finding files up to June last year, then 5 images from the few days im trying to recover.

Can anyone suggest what I can do to get them back?

I have tried a computer backup as well as they were on the computer at first when I dragged them off the camera but I can't seem to locate them now either.

Would be great if someone could advise

Rookie mistake and forgot to back them up.
 
If you know what the files were called (DSC01234...) then you should be able to find them on your PC using search, and then open the containing folder.

Presumably you have overwritten the files on the card?
 
I have since reformatted my computer and installed Win7. Forgot to back those photos up as I thought I had them on my external drive, but rookie mistake and never checked. So i've formatted the drive with them on it.

Any suggestion on best pieces of recovery software to use for this?
 
They only thing that will get this back is professional forensic recovery software as used by police Hi-Tech Crime Units and Forensic Service Providers. I sent you the above link yesterday. That is your best bet.
