Hi,

I would like to start doing things with my photo's rather than just leave them on my computer never to be viewed again. Can any one offer any advice on the following:-

1. Where / Who is a good company to get photo's printed, I would like to get a few blown up bigger than what my printer can do, and haven't been too impressed with the traditional high street stores.

2. Are there any companies who can help put borders around them ready for framing? this possibly ties in with the first question. Or alterntatively are there any companies you can buy borders from?

3. and finally...... any recommendation for albums to display the photo's in? I don't want a traditional album with sleeves as I don't think this will do justice to the photos.

Thanks for any help you can provide

Rob

Hi Rob ...

Quickie answers but HTH ...;)

1. PhotoBox is used by quite a few members ... I have used them a lot and find their results generally very good ...

2. Tried adding borders yourself in Photoshop ... or similar processing software ... ... depending on what you are looking for it is very easy ... :D

3. Photobox do a range of album/print packages that may be worth considering ...

There are, of course, other on-line printers ... and if you search the forum threads you will find references contained in past discussions ...:)

Hope you get sorted ...:p

Little bit of lateral thinking here. Why not invest in a couple of LCD display modules. That way you can display a wide variety of your shots where and when you want

On the "side topic" of LCD display modules. Anyone got any recomendataions?
I want to get one for my folks this xmas and dont want to buy a lemon. <£100 ideally.

Soon as I read that, before scrolling down, I though JL wont like it

Try Colab... they a full framing service, as well providing a range of frames if you want to do your own.

1) I use photobox for all my printing now, even small stuff.

2) I take it you mean a bevelled mount round the photo rather than a simple border on the image? I make my own, it takes a bit of practice and there is a capital investment in the cutter, cutting mat, straight edge etc but once you get the hang of it it's dead easy to knock up mounts. Having a local source of mount board helps though - most decent arts and crafts shops should stock A1 board and possibly also A0. There are mount suppliers out there but most are trade only and hence have a minimum order (usually £30 before vat or so), I've used cartersmounts.co.uk before and they were good but that was for a load of standard sized mounts.
