Just wanted to ask if you are able to and how you go about getting a photo pass for an event, say concert or football match?

Is it actually possible?

Thanks :)

You'll need to be working for a publication to obtain accreditation. For a concert, you would contact the bands management/record label/pr company/promoter. Im sure someone else can advise about football.

Hi,
It is possible, but normally for working pros, or ams that claim to be working pros. Football at a league matches will be almost impossible without registereing with the FA as I beleive all the imaging rights remain with them. Sunday league and the like just needs the permission of the team managers, (and parents if the player are under 18)
Concerts, I haven't done many - but the standard rule is you might be allowed access, but normally for the first three songs, then you get moved away. They are looking to protect the image rights of the artist.
The main way that you get access to events is to be "accredited" which means that a publication asks the event organiser if they can send a photographer. They give them your details, then the organisers allow you to collect a pass at the event. That way it keeps hundreds of keen amateurs out of the way.
Good luck in getting your passes
Hope that helps,
Gary

Sorry but thats wrong about the permissions if under 18.. you dont need anything unless its a rule of the club.. you also dont need permission off the team managers.. although its always best to ask if you can :)

Nope - that's wrong, sorry.
Most Sunday league games are played on publicly accessable pitches and as such you don't need permission. What is good is to have something where the pictures will be if you're putting them on the web. Most players liek top spot themselves/take the mick out of fellow team members.

If it's on Club property then it's best to ask permission, some junior football clubs can be difficult, usually because of parents only knowing the 'law' through Daily Mail articles and the coaches don't want to alienate the parents. Nothing to stop you taking the photo's but you could be asked to leave under tresspass.

Weird though - all junior rugby clubs I've visited over the last three years have openly welcomed cameras, infact at a tournament there's usually upto a dozen parents around the pitch with semipro gear, never mind the phones/compacts.
