Photo papers - which make?

I want to print out some of my best images, but I have recently noticed a vast difference in quality and appearance in different makes of paper.
I printed out a couple of images on A4 Epson glossy paper (I have an Epson inkjet), and they seemed to be too glossy (yes, I know it does sound strange). Then I used some Lexmark which has been stored in a dark place for a few years, and these were much better, so I ran off half a dozen and gave them to our friends (it was from the wedding back in June) and they were over the moon with them.
However, I want to use satin/pearl finish in 10 x 8, 12 x 8 and A4 sizes, so I was wondering what you folks would recommend.

Only paper i tend to use - canson baryta ,,, its finish is amazing

I use Marrutt papers very pleased with results

I'd recommend getting a sample pack of papers from somewhere like Permajet or Fotospeed. They usually have 2 or 3 sheets of different flavours so that you can try a few different ones out to see which you like

Also a Canson user here.

Online Paper does a 35 sheet Baryta test pack of all the major brands which was instrumental in helping me chooses a paper I liked.
