In a couple of weeks we will be visiting the areas around Aberaeron and then Bangor/Anglesey, so looking for any photo opportunities whilst we are there.
Wildlife is my main interest but would welcome suggestions for any options that you think might prove worthwhile spending some time.

TIA

Penmon lighthouse is on Anglesey, 15 minutes drive from Bangor, nice for landscapes and the occasional bird, also spotted some seals close to the shore when I was there.
Otherwise the lakes around Snowdon are nice to visit.

 noted, thanks very much.

The harbour at Aberaeron is lined with colourful buildings and when the tide is in, well worth a shot.

We walked a couple of miles along the coastal path, southbound, from the town last year and enjoyed some lovely scenery and:

Red Kites - a couple of them flew low overhead to check us out
Wild horses
Waterfall over the cliffs

An OS map would help you to find the waterfall

Have a good trip,

Chris

Sounds splendid, thanks - will certainly get the OS map.

If you're going to Anglesey, South Stack lighthouse is quite impressive. There are plenty of sea birds cruising the cliffs, plus the odd BOP. Also when I went to Beaumaris the gulls were very entertaining, diving for starfish!

Near to Aberystwth is Devils Bridge, a green gorge with waterfalls. Also keep an eye out for fast jets!

Elan valley is quite impressive, with many dams & resevoirs & a vey pretty church at the far side of one of them.

Have a good trip, it's a beautiful area.

Thanks, with the input here I'm really looking forward to the photo-opportunities ... hope I can do them justice :)

Near Aberaeron:

*New Quay Head - you may see choughs but not great for landscapes.
*Take a short boat trip from New Quay (?Aberaeron)for bottlenose dolphins/seals
*Pen deri cliffs and oak woods about five miles south of Aberystwyth are spectacular. 15 min walk from main road on public footpaths.
*Area around Llangranog excellent for coastal landscapes - equivalent to Pembs coast.
*Red kite feeding station at Bwlch Nant-yr-arian about 10 miles inland of Aberystwyth on A44. Birds fed at 3pm I think. Near Devils Bridge mentioned above.

In general plenty of good access to coast as coastal footpath is +/- complete.

There's a common tern colony on an island in the Menai Straits between the two bridges and they come in pretty close near Menai Bridge town.

The pier in Beaumaris is a cracking photo oppertunity- nice bright red railings and metal seats last time I was on Angelsey, just across the bridge

Not now Les - they're adding a floating pontoon onto the end for pleasure trips and they've demolished the old shelter, spoilt forever I'm afraid :'(

Gramps...

I'm not advertising but you're more than welcome to have a look on my facebook page in the "notes" - I've created several articles (free) which cover Anglesey and Snowdonia with lots of ideas for photos

Too many to list here, after living here for over 10yrs I'm still constantly finding fantastic scenery to photograph!!

Simon
