Hello! :)

I was just wondering which photo magazines people read? And do you find you read one for a few months/years and then go off it and prefer another?

I subscribe to Amateur Photographer and Outdoor Photography but am getting bored with the latter. Have been sampling several others over recent months and can't decide which one(s) I like the most.

I subscribe to Digital Photo and have just taken a subscription to Practical Photography as well as I read those two without fail every month. I pretty much always buy Digital Camera as well so a subscription to that will probably follow when the offer is good enough! I do get Amateur Photographer occasionally.

Practical Photography (Occasionaly - often quite repetitive)
Professional Photographer - handy and interesting
British Journal of Photography - a very, very good read. Wouldn't be without this one.

British journal of photography - every issue
Professional photographer - every issue
Outdoor photography - every issue
lens work - every issue USA mag

most of the others at work.

Amateur Photographer - subscribe - I think the lens reviews are of very high quality, and I enjoy Roger's piece at the back each week.

Practical Photography - subscribe - good general purpose mag I think

Yesterday I also bought (mostly for the 1st time):

Digital Photographer - I rather like this one and have bought it once or twice before
Professional Photographer - I think we all know why I bought this particular issue!
Digital Photo Pro - looked interesting this month

Digital Photo. Subscribe and read cover to cover on day of release! - Very biased towards post processing, but that's what I like!

Digital Camera and Digital Photo.

I find the on disk PPing videos very helpful :D

Monthly, Professional Photographer. :D Occasionally Practical Photography though I feel it just repeats itself each year with the same old stuff. Any others that catch my eye really.

I subscribe to Practical Photography (though probably not for much longer as it is a bit samey), and Digital camera.

I subscribe to Practical Photography, I like it and find it only as samey as DP and DCM, plus I wanted the cheap LowePro bag. I've started buying Professional Photographer too because I find the insider articles really inciteful. I usually buy DCM although less so now for a lot of reasons and occasionally I'll buy DP. As you can see it's an expensive vice I have but I just don't have the attention span for books. Then there's the motorcycle mags, PB...............

I subscribe to both Photography Monthly and Practical Photography.

I will probably renew both as well when it becomes time as I like them both quite a lot

Interesting replies! I think I might cancel my OP subscription, the landscape pictures are great to look at but I prefer a bit more variety in the articles.

Have picked up Professional Photographer a couple of times to look at in the shops, looks pretty good. I've also bought a couple of issues of Black & White Photography recently which I'm quite enjoying. I think for now I'll just keep AP on subscription and then buy other mags when there's something interesting/appealing inside.

Depends on what is in the dentist's waiting room:) Amateur Photographer really.

Digital Photography and Digital Camera here - occasionally buy others if theres a particular article or review that looks interesting.

digital photo
practical photography

and from time to time, digital camera

Digital photo is moving too much towards photoshop, :( I want to learn how to get a decent picture before I fire up the PC.

Digital Photo Pro - looked interesting this month
I saw that in Smiths this aftie, might go get it tomorrow as I like the look of the comp they are running.
I tend to jump from one mag to the other and some months Ill end up buying 3 or 4 and some months none, I just go with what features appeal to me at the time.

I spend a fortune each month on just about all of them! I am learning so much from them.....but I have also started to realise that they are often repeating one another ( possibly same publishing house???) so will start to be a bit more discerning in the coming months, I guess.

digital photo, the only mag where the standard of competition entries is such that i actually won something, so there, lol

practicial photography
digitial camera for me

It's interesting to see people opinions on Digital Photo & Practical Photography magazines, as I have been invited to meet some of their marketing people on Wednesday.

I had an email from them saying they wanted to talk to people about photography & photography magazines and would I be interested, so why not?

blimey, you mean if you reply to those you actually get asked to attend?!?!?! I missed a trick there didnt i!

OK everyone, great replies here! Now how about your favourite regular bits to read in these magazines?

I think the one great bit for me is the Roger Hicks articles in AP.

I just subscribed to Digital Camera magazine.

On top of my Practical Photography, Amatuer Photography and What digital camera subs ;)

Loads of fab articles and ideas every issue, love them all.
