I'm going to ayr next month for Monday to Friday starting on the 13th. Does anyone know of any good locations to take my camera to. I don't want to miss some great spots just because i don't know the area.
Thanks Wayne

There's loads of places, Culzean Castle (if thats how you spell it) is well worth a visit, as is any of the Robert Burns sites.

that'd fill a few days, I'm sure others will have more sujestions

There are a few nice locations in and around Ayr. There's Alloway with Brig o'Doon, Burns Cottage and the atmospheric Old Kirk (well at night anyway). Admittedly the town itself isn't particularly pretty but there's the beach with great views of the firth of Clyde, Arran etc for sunset shots.

The Carrick Hills to the south of Ayr provide some good panorama shots, well they used to, haven't been up there for a while.

Dunure isn't far, along the coast road to the south, on the way to the Electric Brae and Culzean. A nice wee fishing village with a ruined castle and rocky coast. Culzean itself is great and a bit further beyond Turnberry Hotel could provide some interesting shots.

Heading inland your not too far from Galloway Forest Park for some stunning scenery (Loch Doon, Stincher Falls, Glentrool) or nighttime startrail shots as its a Dark Sky Park (weather permitting lol).

Northwards there's my wee town, Troon, with some great beaches, a nice marina and some really tasty restaurants. Dundonald Castle is a couple of miles inland. A wee bit further north takes you to Ardrossan and the ferry to Arran, would make a good day out too, plenty to photograph. There's more to the north as well, ie Largs, Kelburn Country Park & Muirshiel Country Park.

See lots to see & photograph if you look hard enough. Maybe not as spectacular as the Highlands but not too shabby either :p

But if your bored, its a mere 50 mins on the train to Glasgow ;)

used to work in ayr

there are a few landscape locations in the surrounding areas that are maybe worth alook and you can always go for the sun set arran shot I suppose.

if you are staying at Craig Tara then heads of ayr is just round the corner
