Hi Guys

I have a crazy work schedule coming up for Nov which will see me in Newark, Notts for a few days and I was wondering if there are any interesting locations for photography. I like the more unusual. I'm not looking for a stunning landscape, but derelict buildings, abandoned vehicles, stunning walkways. I would like to do some landscape and fashion as well.

I've never shot around that area of the country so I haven't a clue about locations. I'd appreciate a few pointers in the right direction.

Many thanks

Your in the right place Newark has some really nice historic little spots you can explore. Iikewise Lincoln's not too far away.

I'd suggest you have a look on some urban explorer sites if slightly derelict is the aesthetic your after.

Why not just explore? Your images will be YOUR reaction to the place and more original for it. Asking for locations will just provide a list of "photo opportunities" that will have been shot to death most likely.

:agree:

Newark's a great place for having a wonder around, maybe have a look on flickr, see if there's anywhere specific nearby that you like.

Go with a completely blank canvas of a mind... nothing to pre-empt or influence you. Just go.. and look. React.. imagine you have been commissioned to tell the true story of Newark.. not a tourist board's PR.. the real Newark.

Been a while since I lived near there, but the area along the riverside from the castle downstrea, to the locks was always interesting - you can cross over both sections of the river at the locks and you get to the scrapyards on tolny lane. Alternatively the regenerating area around millgate will bring you back towards the town centre. You can also go upstream from the castle to get onto some of the industrial areas.

As a whole the town was undergoing a lot of rejuvenation when I moved away but I expect there will still be plenty of derelicts both near the market square and in the more industrial areas on the town outskirts.
