I have been asked by a local village group if i would display some of my photographs, problem is i need some frames as there is a possibilty that some might sell.

Where can i purchase some plain frames such as Black.
Am I able to purchase from wholesale, do i need a business or such like..

Also is there any books availible on how to frame ones images..
Thanks

I've just bought one from Hobbycraft today, £13 for a 30x40cm black 'small aperture' frame (sorry, stealing the lingo from fastframes..) which actually seems quite competitive!! They had a good selection in store too :)

Some good ideas there, with the exseption of local frames, in my area its just to costly.
thanks for all the replies

Thanks

The frame company I use gives a discount to members of the different clubs (art, photography) and I managed to get one as well by producing my business card. I was surprised at how reasonable they are. I could get some cheaper at one of the discount shops in a town but they are not generally such good quality, especially the mounts. I only buy the frames etc from them and do the actual framing myself

I buy my frames from Ikea, they do lots of different colours (including black) and in a large number of sizes, plus you can pick them up straight away.

Thanks for the extra info, all very helpful.
Only problem, i live in the middle of no where and love it, most stores or places of interest are at least 20-25 miles away, so reckon it will be a weekend trip.

Thanks

echo the Wilkonsons and ikea calls.

Also, I know it will sound cheap, but Poundstretcher up here had a massive selction of frames, we bought tons of plain pine ones to hang 6x4s in the hallway and they were 3 for £1!!!!

Depends on the quality you are looking for I guess

were fortunate there. our studio is above maple framing in mansfield.
but as were having a lot of stuff framed, were looking into the kit to diy.
we already make our of frames for stretch canvas's.
but if you want a few at resonable money, try ikea.or even wilko.
and yes we have been to the poundshop too.
