Yes
I was informed of this fair a few of years ago by a TP member but as yet haven't got myself to Paris to see it;

This year is impossible as I'm at the mega meet in the UK, however seeing as I often leave arranging meets too late for people to organise their lives , work and of course find funds, I'm putting a proposal forward well in advance for a meet ( of course digi folk are welcome too ) for the first weekend in June 2016
Plenty of time to organise yourselves and possibly get cheap fairs, accomodation by booking in advance.
Maybe include a bit of time around the touristy areas of Paris itself too.

I'm simply putting feelers out as we're a long way from the event, however if there's enough interest then perhaps it would be an intersting change for you guys to come this side of the channel.

Her's a linky for this years event, if you click the british language flag, top right, it will link you to an english page but it's the 2014 event....gives you some idea anyway.

Eh? I haven't been to Paris in so long that I can't remember when it was except that it wasn't that long after the chunnel had opened because they were offering a deal on return tickets (may have been 1998?). I remember ordering something in a restaurant which may have been horse and the hotel room was quite disappointing but that's it.

Welcome to France! :ROFLMAO:

Oh, not at all. The first time I went (that wasn't on a school trip) was in 1991 and the hotel was only 2 stars but was near the Sacré-Cœur and was quite delightful. I recall sitting with my feet propped on the open windowsill, sipping a stubby bottle of beer while looking out on the beautiful cityscape. Then the girlfriend I'd taken with me burst into tears because her friends had told her that I'd taken her there to propose, which I had no intention of doing. It put a bit of a damper on the evening, if I'm honest.

Awwww you rotten s*d, one of the most romantic cities in the world and you refused to comit yourself! ....at Sacré-Cœur as well ....how could you? :bat::D

I love Paris and providing this doesn't clash with my annual pilgrimage to Le Mans I would definitely be up for this.

If I haven't taken a wedding booking by the time this is in the 'booking' stage for a few people, would definitely be up for it. have been to France a couple of times, though only for the day [once north in my car, twice south on a big ship] and never been anywhere near Paris. if we can arrange pet sitters, might also drag the boss along, he is very useful as he knows France a bit and speaks the lingo, which is more than I can claim :D

That's ok, all Parisians understand English, they pretend not to because "Paris".

Paris Syndrome.

I'm a ( converted) Sospelite living in the south and understand nothing that you northerners come out with ...Parisien, English or otherwise :D

I went to this fair last year. Whilst I enjoyed the browsing and chats with other like-minded folks, I was on the look-out for some specific pieces of kit but none of the traders had any examples for sale. One trader had one but it was his own, for his personal use and he wasn't gonna part with it! The many fair stalls are concentrated in the town square so not too much shoe leather will be lost. Generally speaking, I think kit in both France and Germany (there were quite a few German traders) tend to be a bit more expensive than the UK..... I certainly didn't spot any bargains.
There were also a few individuals carrying notices advertising a few pieces of kit they also had for sale.
The small town is pretty but would probably struggle to accommodate all fair visitors. I camped at a site near Versailles and travelled in by train (change of station required at Versailles). As an excuse to meet up with fellow TP'ers and experience la belle france (especially when the sun is out), its a pretty good weekend trip.

Last time I went to Paris could have been 35 plus years ago, the wife and I went to night school to learn French and they organised a coach trip for the class and we stayed opposite the windmill...anyway I had a friend who lived there and called in to see him and we decided to buy some food for home cooking and what was fascinating..... we took the lift to the basement and there was an underground market :eek: trying to find what it was for this post and anyone who knows Paris it could be des Halles
