Hi All,

I have been using Apples the last 5 years so I am well out of the game and my knowledge is lacking in terms of whats good etc. I have after a little research put together what I think to be a decent spec. Budget is around £1500 or so, less if possible. Primary use is photo editing using Photoshop and Lightroom and various plugins etc. I would like to look into dabbling in a little video in time.

What I am wondering is if I have specified enough horse power. How future proof this build will be and if there are any areas I can trim some fat from. Ideally I would like to buy over Black Friday whilst there are some decent reductions on a number of parts etc.

Things I wondered about is if I can get away with a 256gb m.2. Also if the I7 coffee lake 6 core/12 thread cpu would be better. Also if the GFX card is overkill?

OS wise I have Windows 7 home retail which I believe I can still upgrade to Win10 for free?

All help would be greatly appreciated.

The new 6 core chip is a cracker and the new i5 will out perform older i7’s however if buying new and in your case I’d get the i7 and drop to a 1050ti to cover the savings.

A 256 m.2 drive is overkill for just windows and base programs. I have one and it’s about a third full.

I do keep data and photos on different ssd drives though.
