Photo Editing Tutorials/Books

I want to learn how to edit my photographs properly. I don't really edit them at all at the minute, but I know with some decent post-processing I can really improve my photos.

The problem is, I don't really know what program to use.

I have Photoshop CS5, Lightroom 3, and also Aperture. Seeing as I am new to post-processing I want to know which is going to be the best application to use, and also some tutorials, or books to follow.

Personally.. i would use Aperture for work flow and sorting & catalogue of images, and also to convert raw files.. then once converted, take the .TIFF into CS5 to play with a bit more, layers etc, then covert to JPG for printing..

Above is assuming you shoot in RAW..

Regards to tutorials, Google is your friend for online use.. or ebay for training materials, DVDS etc..

LR3 in conjunction with the Scott Kelby book, very informative read and well laid out too

I suppose everyone has a different approach. I have CS5 and LR3. I have found that 90% of my stuff is done in LR with only a few odd images going to CS5 for more editing. I find LR much more pleasant to use and very quick.

If you can fork out for all three of these expensive pieces of software, I'd recommend spending an extra £15 for a couple of months and using Scott Kelby's training site ( kelbytraining.com ) and look at the LR tutorials there. Alternatively Linda.com is also quite good. You might find you learn more in a couple of day there than spending a lot longer going through books.
