I have PS Elements 10 and a Vista desktop which I have been using to edit photos taken with a Nikon D200. I've now purchased a D750 and to my annoyance Elements 10 doesn't recognise RAW files out of the D750. Quick search on t'internet soon uncovered a need to download an update which was encouraging. However, you need Win 7 or 8 as a minimum so I am stuffed without going through the process of upgrading my OS.

Are there any workarounds to still use Elements 10 and vista for RAW files out of a D750? What alternative s/w can I use other than Gimp?
 
Can you use the Nikon software NX2 or whatever it's called these days??? I used to like the Nikon software, but have since subscribed to the monthly Adobe CC plan for my D750, cost £8.57 a month. You can have a free 30 day trial > https://creative.adobe.com/plans/photography?store_code=gb

I'll have to dig out the NX2 software. The cloud option is expensive given I don't necessarily require all the functionality of the full blown version.

If you can't find the Nikon NX2 software you should be able to download from the Nikon website.
 
I think NX2 is being replaced by NXD (free software) although the free adobe DNG converter mentioned in the previous post will at least allow you to keep using Elements so new new software to have to learn!
 
Does the newest version of Paintshop support your camera. It's a one off purchase like PSE and imo better (and possibly cheaper). I'm running the previous version on XP, so I don't think the operating system is an issue with it.

As far as I can workout the DNG converter also requires Win7
 
I've found Adobe's online help really useful! If you go to the home page>menu>learn and support>contact support.

I've got Photoshop CC, like Simon, but it wouldn't run on my laptop. I contacted them for "live chat", and the guy was really useful, as my graphics card needed updating, and he did it all for me! I've had a couple of issues since, and it's been rectified by the live chat. They might be able to help you. Worth a try?

(Elements 13 was on offer at £50 from Amazon until recently, which might have helped you. I've got a Canon, so I don't know whether updating to PSE 13 would help you or not).
