photo editing for a newbie

heard alot of people mention this.

:agree: same as you first timer to photo editing, been using it for a week and recommend it:thumbs:

I would discount both GIMP and Photoshop CS4 for beginners.

Both are incredibly complex and powerful tools, that are more than likely going to overwhelm beginners to post processing. Photoshop CS4 also has the added factor of being uber expensive.

If you want something free for image management and basic editing look at Google Picasa, or iPhoto if you are on a Mac, both are free. Or for something a bit more powerful look at Photoshop Elements, 8 is the latest version, it costs about £60-80 and is a much simpler version of Photoshop, but still powerful enough for all but the most demanding user.

another vote for elements. very powerful and quick and not too complicated to use!!
