Hi, just found out that my photo is being used on a website without my permission. It's on the homepage.

Was wondering if anyone has advice on how you go about contacting the company about compensation for it being used. I know it's nice to be polite and I could ask just ask them to take it down but they've shown a cheekiness in using it I think. Would be nice to give them a jolt and let them know we're not all here to provide a free service for them. They're a business and expect to be paid for the work they do, so should be showing a professional courtesy and respect towards people that are helping promote their company.

Don't know if anyone has a letter template that is used in these circumstances?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Dave.

I thought this was the other thread that already running re your title

Generally I'd start by looking for a "Contact Us" or "About Us" page on the website..
.. establish who owns the website and their contact details. Most importantly, which country they're based in.

1st thing to do is take a screen grab

Depending on the size of the company it may be worth taking it further.

You could try registering with Own-it www.own-it.org where you will find plenty of info, and you can also chat to them 1-2-1 for further advice.

Get that screen Grab! Don't rush into it, try to gather what info you can first.

I think there's something called Wayback machine (a website?) which tells you how long it's been on the website, this might be useful info to have up your sleeve.

I have no further advice to offer, other than what's been said. Just wanting to wish you good luck.

Thanks a lot for the replies. I got my screen grab earlier. I'll look into the links you put up. Thanks again. :)

Don't forget they may be an innocent party too -- someone else may have supplied it to them as his work.

Not trying to be controversial as it's meant well, but please don't do this...

...

There is no place in UK law for registration, but there are several organisations of con artists trying to pretend that there is.
