Phone self photos

That angle means you can get more of the body in (quite sensible if you think about the maths of it).

Also the "sluttier" girls use it to show off more cleavage.

Looking at someone from below is rarely flattering.

Why when you see young folk (girls in particular) taking self/group pictures on their phones do they always hold the camera high and look up to take the picture?

Its actually in the Instagram Ts & Cs that you have to hold your phone at that angle...

Who cares? I mean really?

Charming.

But completely true.

I say this as a 21 year old who has had Facebook for the past however many years. Look at the friend feed of anyone my age. It was worse when I was a teenager.

Definite negative correlation with IQ and amount of cleavage on show.

So let me get this straight... now you're saying that the more cleavage a woman shows, the more her intelligence falls in line with that of your average crabcake?

You're brave. ;)

Its more slimming for the face to look up slightly and can help with double or rounded chins. Much more flattering.

Pretty sure IQ in this context means Image Quality rather than Intelligence Quotient.

Wow. What a charmer you are.

ETA: A law student? With opinions like that? Wow.

Judging by the wink I think you've taken this with the jest I meant it to have!

I thought I'd be cheeky and throw a tongue in cheek comment in-between my serious responses of post #1 to see which generated a reply. ;)

Called charming twice in one thread? That's a PB.

I am not a misogynist, perhaps the context in which I posted my message does not translate well into the virtual environment.

Please don't even hint at the idea I may be anti-female. I am against the over-sexualisation of social and mainstream media regardless of gender.

I fail to see what relevance my current education status has to this thread? Needless to say the impartiality I will deliver when fully qualified will be beyond reproach.

Ok Charlotte. I presume you only read the section of my post that you quoted.

The bit I quoted seemed to encapsulate the interesting bits.

But other than that, I worry about a law professional who thinks that how 'sexy' someone looks is correlated to their intelligence. But perhaps that's because I know two strippers who got 1st's at Oxford.

Please find anything I've said that says exactly:

how 'sexy' someone looks is correlated to their intelligence

I specifically (and again I must say, in jest) mentioned cleavage. As I do not find inappropriately exposed cleavage 'sexy', your argument is without reason.

I'm not the first person to say this to you Charlotte; you have a chip on your shoulder whenever there is even the slightest (misconstrued) whiff of anything other than praise towards females. I find it concerning that you feel the need to act this way.

You would only have to spend five minutes with me in person to know that your opinions are so misplaced it's almost comical.

Lets get this thread back on topic. (If you wish to carry on I'll more than happily continue mooting via PM)

I love how this thread is starting into a 'anti-female' argument ;) , I mean who cares about the angle of photos people take of themselves? :)

We're not quite having a full blown argument... yet

And as I said to somebody the other day. I have made references to gender on approximately three out of over 85 threads that I've replied to in a month (and one of those was other people deciding it was somehow bad I did not want to work for a misogynist). Hardly a chip on my shoulder. This one didn't have such a reference until you made it.

I just find it sad that you would associate showing some cleavage with a low intelligence. I'd find it sad if you said a similar thing about a man.

This has descended into pettiness. Paradoxically, I find it sad that my opinions on mass over-sexualisation of both genders upset you.

Please find below an excerpt from my previous post:

Here you go, answers it all!

I did, yes... much like the jest in which I considered replying regarding people who have profile pictures holding cameras with an extremely large oversized lens and what the general opinion is of the theory of over-compensation and inverse proportion rate to.... *ahem*... intelligence... ;)

A reply with a bit of zing. Well played.

I won't tell you what car I drive as I don't want to confirm or deny your suspicions ;)

They're imitating ducks aren't they :p

My daughter reached her teens last week. She is very conscious of doing the 'duckface' in pictures but unfortunately, the metalwork that she currently wears around her teeth make it look like she's doing it on purpose. I'm sure she'll be thrilled to get her braces off in a year or two! :)

Could you provide some examples of this? Please?
Sits back and awaits the inevitable.
