Hi all

Horrible question, but what are peoples phobias, i get the michael taken out of me for mine, i just wondered if anybody else had any wierd phobias.

Mine are daddy long legs (ginny spinners) and knees

When I was a kid, we where climbing rocks in a quarry, and I didn't notice how high we had got.
When I looked down we must have been three miles up(or there-abouts lol)

Ever since have suffered vertigo near big drops...........

Can't say i have any real phobias but I do hate balloons with a passion ;)

I've got three: Eating in public places (resturants and cafes), people being ill in the street and using cramped public transport (which thankfully very rarely do I need to find myself having do do that).

Thanks for your replies, not just me then :D

Must remember to log off his and log on mine:bonk::bonk:

i have a fear of going down (no not that you dirty minded lot:razz:),

am ok being up high its the getting back to ground levels that causes me issues, sprial staircases, absaling, roller-coaster, hill walking i get to the top then its like crap how am i gonna get back down??

Your not alone on that one, a guy at work suffered from that after falling down a access ladder after completing the job he was doing.

Personally i have no fears of heights, but hate caves. I am not affriad of small spaces though ( i work in tight tunnells/cable voids etc) just caves it could be as big as the O2 areana but it would still give me goose bumps at the very least lol.

It made me chuckle too, i'm too innocent to think of anything like that :D

That made me chuckle really loud :D

:naughty: Bad lad

I'm not a big fan of heights, although I love abseiling, now that's a rush.

Adrenalin is really brown, don't you know

I have a bit of a thing about big cats!
They really do scare the cr*p out of me!
When I visit a zoo/wildlife park I can feel the hairs on my neck standing up, as soon as we get near the big cats! but i always make sure I go right up to the cage & get as close as possible!

Spence

dont mind hights. its hitting the floor at high speeds that scares me.;)

:puke:
i'm realy scared of being sick. choked after returning :eek:a crap meal some years ago.
the prospect of speaking down the big white telephone now scares me silly on the few occasions i get poorly.

hospitals
thankfully i have never been admitted for anything but i have been withpeople to A+E a few times as a friend of someone. I dont know why, but as a child i was in and out of doctors all the time and i think it stems from that!

When ever i go to one - i go really pale, stiff and dont say a word. I havent been to my gp for over 5 years i dont intend to start now either.

needles,

as soon as the doc hets his hyperdermics out im flat out of the floor white as a sheet, ive been a bit better on recent injections but ive still gone white as a sheet and dizzy.

I used to be scared of heights. Then we went to Australia and I climbed the Centrepoint Tower in Sydney and the harbour bridge.
Heights don't bother me now.

I also used to be scared of spiders, but on the same trip went into an outdoor loo, checked the seat, lifted the lid (all clear). Shut the door and sat down. Looked up to see 2 huntsmen over the door.
Spiders don't bother me now either.

Still scared of flying though!

having a poo is never as pleasurable as on your own toilet. i think i went through my whole school life never pooing once! that said i now understand the concept of being paid to have a poo, so having a poo at work is well worth the effort!

yup, thats my real hate. Years ago as a child I needed to have whatever it was injected into me for a scan - I can still remember one of the six nurses it took to hold me down saying to my mum "He's quite strong isn't he?" Oooops :(

Discovered just a couple of weeks ago that I really am still bad with needles when I needed a tetanus and a local before having the stiches following that deer attack. At least they didn't have to hod me down this time though

I have 2 main ones

Foam, as in the man made stuff used to pack stuff and make bath sponges, the feel of it makes me want to :puke: and I get goose bumps all over. I really do hate the stuff, just typing this makes me feel sick and get goose bumps.

Heights, oh boy I thought that I had got over this until a few weeks ago on a school trip with my daughter 45 foot pole to climb then jump onto a trapeze bar, all the 9 to 11 year olds did it. Me I got half way up and froze, had to have one of the instructors talk me down. You just knoe that the kids took the mick out of the 6 foot 17 stone bloke stuck up the pole. I will try and find the photo later and post it.

It's an odd one, but having my blood pressure taken freaks me out!! I can't stand the way the arm strap thingy tightens and you can feel the blood pumping through your arm.:gag: :thumbsdown:It's totally irrational, as I know it's not going to hurt, but I still really hate it!

Heights and injections would be next on my list...

LOL at the "fear of long words" from Flash's list of phobias: "Words, long- Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia or Sesquipedalophobia.":D

Noticed there's even a phobia about phobias! Now that's got to mess you up big time if you ever have that!

Flash in the Pan - Bloody hell, now i have a fear of long words and lists :D:D

Thanks to everyone who has replied, makes me feel better knowing other people have strange phobias as well as me. I dislocated my knee when i was younger now i cannot stand anybody touching my or their own knee, women wearing skirts where i can see the knee anything to do with them. Oh god now i feel :puke:

having a poo is never as pleasurable as on your own toilet. i think i went through my whole school life never pooing once! that said i now understand the concept of being paid to have a poo, so having a poo at work is well worth the effort!

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Wet wool.. being pulled through your fingers! The thought makes me shiver even as I type.. In a nails on a chalkboard type of feeling.

Heights, and I hate the thought of caves too. I intend to go up the Rialto tower or the other one in Melbourne next year though! I'll be a wreck :D
