Daily Phil's 2013 365 challenge 1/1/2013 All Done!!!!!!!!

You did well, Phil, nice photo.

Thanks Sam

There is a NI Walking Photography group (you may already know about it but in case not). All the walks have time to take photos as part of the walk - no rushing on ahead without people. (Not managed to make any of their walks myself yet.)

Thanks Lynn, I must look into that. Yesterdays walk was really about training for a charity event that I am doing in the Mournes in August, an 18 mile walk climbing the 7 highest mountains over 700 meters high in one day.

I think that works well  would make a good location for a long exposure too

That is the plan Matt, we followed 2 different rivers that had a large number of cascades, waterfalls, bridges etc that I think I could easily spend a day at!

That is a lovely shot Phil even if you arent happy with it .... I know I would be :)

Thanks Carol, as Matt said it would suit a long exposure and a better view point but I dont have the equipment at the minute.

Another good one!

Well, it wasn't a day wasted if you have managed to sniff out new sites for future pics

Day 28. Started these last night and tempted to take into the rest of them now as the rain beats against the windows.

I've a few friends who do the Seven 7s every year - challenging but worth it! The Walking Photography Group seem to do the Mournes a lot - they went up the snow the other week and got some lovely shots.

Nice! My planned shot for today is also chocolate - was tempted to eat the subject last night but held off to take the shot (must go and do that soon so I'm not taking the shot just before midnight again!)

I would have been up there for the snow too if I had have had my camera back. Dont start me!

When my wife saw the few shots i had taken for today, she commented, "well they are a bit sh5t!"
It made me laugh.

phil... i recall your amazing landscape shots but nothign after so when i read this... well i did a well know trick of ejecting my breakfast virtually over the screen.... :gag: ...:thumbs:

phil... liking the cat on the cold tin roof... you MUST get more of those blue eyes...

day 26 jumped out at me, liking that detail of the dew on the heads..

its great that you haven't let your project slack due to no camera

Those chocolates look good enough to eat, Phil! Great angle of the box in that photo!

And thanks again Frank. THe good news is that my camera is out with the courier for delivery today, the bad news is that I'm working all day and am probably going to miss it!

Thanks T.

Woo hoo, camera just signed for by my brother. I will have no excuses now for producing rubbish shots!

FANTASTIC!!! You can stop whining now!:lol: Seriously, I'm really pleased you finally have it back!

Day 29. Almost a month done! New camera seems to be going ok, almost afraid to try it in case i find something wrong. Had been reading up on light painting recently and bought a few coloured gels so gave it a quick try tonight. Tried lighting this tractor in a barn but not very successfully. Timing is so hard to work out, i tried to light the whole thing with red from the front, then light the interior blue and the loading bucket on the front green. Looking at it now i have had the red light too high and it has taken over most of the green and the dots of light are from the flash that i was using. Lesson learnt. If anyone (Matt!) can give me any pointers, it would be appreciated.

Go one you finish that box buddy, I know I would with the crap weather we've been having :( now that's some light painting  it needs some more to give it a little more definition but a good attempt non the less, I'd also considered a little light painting on the surrounding areas so its not just a digger floating in a black space

Cheers Matt. I used my flash for this, would a led torch be any better?

That's cool for a first attempt Phil and i really love the blue inside the cab... kind of eerie but cool..... it gets addictive beware!.... i haven't tried outside yet but when weather picks up i shall!

Cheers T

Now day 30. Getting it in early as im away from lunch time till late. Really should have had a tripod with me for this so had to push up the iso instead.

Some nice shots there. Quite like the light painting shot. And you barely notice the ISO in that last one so I wouldn't worry about it. Generally only the photographer notices the grain unless you pixel peep. Really nice colours in it, works well against the brown leaves. Nicely done.

I'd say that the light painting is pretty good for a first attempt :)

The fungi are lovely nice and vivid against the drab background.

Love the fungi ...... I have a thing about this stuff ..... strange I know  but great shot :D

Day 31. Getting another one in early today as i am heading off at 4 and not back till the same time tomorrow afternoon. Work is no fun! This is me and Jess the Labrador and Izzy the Collie. There was no chance of them both looking at the camera at the same time :(

Looks like a nice place for a walk. Did you not have a cat you could've sat on top ;)

Really like your light painting work, and thanks for highlighting (excuse the pun) the errors or things you would do differently. I think I'm going to have to give something similar a go at some point.

I like your "family" portrait too :)

Wonderful fungi, thought the green leaf in the bottom of frame is a little distracting  I think it's an orange peel fungi if I'm not mistaken, today's is good I love how neither dog is all that interested in the camera

To the light painting, I find a mixture of flash and torch, very much depending on the coverage I'm after, flash tends to be to fill for me, where as I'll use a torch is I want more directed light :D

Thanks Tim. I'm going to try this again some night next week on a couple of different subjects.

Cheers Matt. The green leaf was ivy that I only spotted when I home.

I will try using a torch next week when I have another go. Going to try light trails tonight and walking in the mountains tomorrow.

Yay finally a portrait.. i knew eventually you would succumb!.... a good one it is too:thumbs:

Was it rush hour? That's one busy road, but I am having fun looking at it - looks like a driver has gone a bit mental up on the left hand side! I also like the colour of the sky as well. :)
