weekly Phil-D's TP52 - 2014 week 52 Support added (archive shot)

Nice one Phil - super job polishing and shooting this shiny shiny thing.

You've also got the hint of shadow under and behind which is sooo important.

Very nice job!

Nice lighting for the mineral shot. Wish I had an idea

I agree with what's been said, nice light, comp and subject. Placement of the coins is also great. (y)

Really like the Smokin' Gun (y)

Mineral really well thought out and nice sharp image (y)

Thanks Michael

Mineral: Lying in bed thinking.....then you had a stroke of genius....

Great take and on theme, and as all have said before, so well executed.....Smoke and mineral have been good weeks for you. You must perform well under pressure, cause they are pretty horried themes (y)

Jason, thank you. I'll be honest, at this time of year I have quite a bit of spare time on my hands, both at work and from my other hobbies. So far this has been a great way to occupy mi mind. Once (if) the better weather arrives, and the evenings get lighter, my efforts my drop off slightly

Thanks Graham, yes, it was polished :D took mi a while, kept moving it around till I hoped it looked right

Cheers Kev

Thanks Adam. I actually took all the coins out, filled the money box with tissues so the coins couldn't fall in, then just sat the two coins in the slot

Simple idea, very effective yet I'd prob never have thought to do it!

This for me. Top shot (y)

Thanks Alan

Hi Phil.....I don't know how I missed commenting earlier ..... I seem to have missed the early pics....I was probably deep in thought  anyway its a fab pic .... and a great sentiment ....don't I know it !! Well done on such an original idea :)

Thanks Susie, I've struggle a little this week with trying to comment on every thread, but we've another 46 weeks to make up for it :D

Very clever idea and superbly executed - no cit at all here :)

Well here's my attempt at sense.................... why are idea's always easier to execute in your head :banghead:

Taken in one exposure after an hour in the bitter cold and about 20 attempts, thanks Lynn for only whinging a bit

:D

It looks a little soft to me but I'll put that down to the wind :mooning:

If we get a re-shoot later in the year and the weathers better, I'll be having another go at this

A sense of deja vu?

I like this but not sure why, a good and different take on the theme.

Thanks Mandy :)

Like that. Great idea and well executed.

No two crit....well, maybe work the scene a bit....ahh, what do I know :)

Cheers.

Cheers Andy, agree, its not the most scenic place ............if I do it again I'll try find somewhere with a bit more interest :)

Which one is you? Only kidding. Interesting take on the theme that needs a little more work but a good try. Would like to see it full size but your Flickr is marked private, nae matter.

Cheers Martin, its public on flickr now, did a couple of edits, put them both on flickr but kept them private till I decided which one to use :)

Agree, its far from perfect, always open to ideas on how to improve :)

Excellent idea - it could be better, but not sure how you'd do it. Not too sure about the lights showing through the body on the left - but that would have involved two seperate photos to do it

Hi really good idea, the only thing letting it down maybe is the light, really good thinking outside the box (y)

Excellent idea for the theme and well done for doing it in one exposure. The lights through the body just add IMO

I think a lighter jacket would have worked better as the body seems to be missing rather than faded.

Great idea

Quite like that one Phil - nicely done (y)

Thanks Marcus

Unusual and clever take on the theme..well done

Thanks Colin

Thanks Sarah :) getting the lights to shine through her on the left and not on the right, in one exposure, was the hard bit!. I was after a bit of a ghostly affect :D

Thanks Alan, already looking for a better location for a re-shoot week. I'm also going to have a go during the day. I've got a variable ND filter that I've not really used, don't know if I'll manage the same effect, but its worth a go.

Nice original take on the theme Phil, well done getting the shot in one exposure rather than PS two images (y)

Thanks DK, my biggest problem is, I don't know how to merge two images :D

Thanks Kev, as mentioned above, it was the ghostly effect I was after

Thanks Mark, now its funny you should say that, Lynn did have a thick creamy coloured jumper on under her coat, I did suggest she might take her coat off to see if it showed up a little better  she pointed out, not very politely I might add, that it was a tad chilly

Certainly one to have another go at later in the year :)

Good idea and well executed, as others have said. I thought it was "sense of self" at first, but I now get the dejavu-ness of it.

It's a good idea and something completely different. Would like it to be a bit lighter as hard to make out on my screen.

Almost missed you again Phil hiding at the bottom of the page :) a great idea ....and quite spooky too, well done on creating something very original.

Thanks Susie :)

Then posted on Judi's thread....

#3 works best for me. Very appropriate treatment. Can't work out what that object is to the right of the book - is it a stone?

mercurius, hope you don't mind me mentioning this, but I'm wondering if your seeing things on your screen darker than they are  I know my image is a little dark, but its not too dark on my lappy . I could easily see that it was a rose leaf on Judis image that you asked about

The reason I've mentioned this is because I was suffering something similar and didn't realise. I run firefox and I was seeing colour different to everyone else. Now I'm no expert as to what was causing it, but I asked for advice on TP and was given a link to check the colours on my screen. I had to alter something in the way firefox showed colour.

I'm making this sound more complicated than it was ....................... if you think it will help, I'll dig the thread out and you'll find the link and how to check your screens colour :)

Good work Phil (y)
It works well conveying the theme, creative thinking at its best, great idea and execution.

Cheers

Very creative, tricky subject to get in one exposure but as mentioned above its a little on the dark side.

Great idea and well executed!

Cheers Richard

Thanks Iain

Good original idea Phil, I like it.

Not much more to add really, well done (y)

Thanks Simon

neat idea (y)

Cheers David

Nice thinking for the theme but I'm afraid I'm finding the lack of light a bit off putting. I must try this sometime though.

Thanks Peter, I did struggle to come up with somewhere suitable to have a go at this. My thinking was, dark for long exposure, something in the bg to show through the left hand body. Then I just experimented with light painting Lynn longer when she stood to the right. Could've done with better weather too.

If you fancy a meet one evening, let me know. Would be good to have another go at this with someone else (we might be able to get Andy along too). I'm keen to listen to any ideas you can come up with. I'm only 30 mins from Leeds and Lynns a willing model as long as it not for a portrait, she hates them :D

Very creative, tricky subject to get in one exposure but as mentioned above its a little on the dark side.

Thanks John

Like the idea (y) it took a few seconds to realise what I was (or wasn't) seeing. Maybe a tad on the dark side

Thanks Michael, it was very trail and error trying to get the light right. I'm starting to think it maybe a tad dark miself  I did think it might have been marcurius that was seeing it darker than it was, possibly not now, apologies marcurius :)
