weekly Phil-D's TP52 - 2014 week 52 Support added (archive shot)

Like both images for smoke but the second one is a great idea.

Very fun image! That's all from me :)

Cheers Simon, I'm guessing you mean the smoked piggy image and not the shotgun ;) :D

Like both images for smoke but the second one is a great idea.

Thanks Sharon, I should have just gone with the 2nd idea straight off :)

My vote goes to #2 for smoke Phil (y)
Its bang on theme (see what I did there?) but more importantly, compositionally very strong, with the triangle of the broke shotgun, lovely detail in the metal and wood. The lighting is subtle but very effective. Good work all round matey (y)

Loving the smoking gun image matey - nice colouring with the grain of the wood and nicely captured with the smoke

Liking the smoking gun. Smoke looks good as does the lighting and grains in the wood(y) I like as is but also wonder if it would look good with the trigger showing too?

Thanks Adam, there's no crop on the shot, its the size it was shot, but I like your thinking. I've also thought since I posted it that I should have taken a few more with different compositions, one with more smoke above and one with the trigger in the image :)

Catch up time prefer your second bubble shot

And your smoking gun SHOT OF THE ROUND so far for me

Hi Phil.

Smoke: I like number one for the fun factor :) though without a doubt number 2 is in a class of its own....I think your best 2014 52 submission to date! The composition and execution is perfect! no crit at all

Why can't I remember there's a 'like' button!

Much better - I've really struggled with this weeks and haven't had any other bright ideas suddenly creep up on me either.

Thanks Sarah :) with in the hour, smoke will be in the past and all forgotten :D

Well, after seeing this weeks theme I thought it was going to be like smoke, a bit of a nightmare :runaway:

Laid in bed this morning, I had an idea

Mineral Deposit .............. It seems we have loads of them at our house

That's a good idea, nicely shot and crisply sharp. Well done for coming up with an idea, I'm feeling clueless about this week's theme!

:D Nice one Phil (y)
A creative and fun take on the theme.
Just to echo the points above, its a really clean, crisp, well lit image. You've handled lighting the shiny metal particularly well. Were you wearing white gloves to avoid any fingerprints? ;)

Great work Phil (y)

I do love your take on the theme brilliant idea, good composition and nice and sharp not much for me to crit.

Great take on the theme... nice clear crisp shot... cant really add o whats been said before... well done

Great title to go with you photo and nice take on the theme

As above, great looking shot and a good take on the theme :)

Thank you for all your thoughts and comments :)

Hi Phil

Smokey bacon :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Smoking barrel....... awesome :jawdrop::clap: perfect

Mineral.....really well lit , like the slightly turned angle , sharp & no irritating reflections which can appear on shiny surfaces

Lynne, thanks for the catch up :)

That's a good idea Phil :)

Really well lit, great background, super shine on the box and the coins - super image (y)

Lynne, DK, Thank you :) The money box is chrome plated, very shiny indeed, having it positioned so as not to pick up the surroundings in reflections and get the composition I wanted, was a bit tricky.
Only thing that bothered me , the white card now makes the money box look white on its sides

Thanks Iain, I can't take credit for the lighting, it was just natural, shot in the Porch where its nearly all glass :)

White gloves you say?, nah I'm not that posh :p but I did use a duster to keep moving it around till I was happy

Cheapskate! 4p !! Only kidding, well-balanced lighting to keep all the detail.

Super shot. Hats off to you for handling the shiny surfaces so well. The black on the top edges really adds to the 3D feel to it.

Thanks Peter, I did tried to get the same effect all the way down the nearest corner but couldn't just find the right positioning with the natural light

another super shot cant really add to whats been said

Cheers Craig

If only it ended at 4p! .......... Cheers Martin :D

Excellent take on the theme matey - very well lit and lovely clear shot (y)

Thanks Marcus

Hi, as already been mentioned good work on the reflections an PP

Mineral: Lying in bed thinking.....then you had a stroke of genius....

Great take and on theme, and as all have said before, so well executed.....Smoke and mineral have been good weeks for you. You must perform well under pressure, cause they are pretty horried themes (y)
