Yes
I'm just playing with a trial version of this and I have to say I'm mightily impressed with it - fully featured fast and powerful! There''s obviously a learning curve associated with it to get the best out of it, but the thing I didn't realise is that it supports most popular DSLRs and you can deal with RAW conversions, Tiff files and jpegs.

I just wonder if anyone here uses this as their default processing package apart from the obvious Phase One Digi Back users?

Hi CT

Yes i use it as my RAW processor for everything, I find it fits my workflow very well and the detail it brings out of the files is better than any other processor I have used. Version 6 the current one has lots of features that are not apparent at first use. another point where it comes out on top is it has superb profiles for most DSLR, but is outstanding when it comes to digital backs. I find my Leica and Phase one files are much more detailed and natural using this than any other package out there.

If you must still use lightroom (i do for some stuff) they work well together, I will just clarify this a bit, what i mean is you can set capture one up to save all its adjustment settings in a folder with the edited raw files and still use lightroom set up to use XMP files and they will not touch each other etc. leaving the raw file untouched by either package. i find this very usefull as not everything i do needs to go through Capture One.

And one final benefit is if you have a phase one back its a free bit of software if run in DB mode which is digital Back mode where it will process only phase one and leaf digital back files.

And the last thing but not the least its fantastic for tethered use in the studio or field, really a fantastic piece of software.

Cheers Mark - I guess the crippler is it would cost a fortune if you had to buy it?

So how does the free version work then - I suppose once you connect a Phase One Back - you just get continued use?

start it in DB mode at launch and when it detects a back or a file it works fully

Thanks Mark, I've just ordered a firewire converter so i can't connect the back just yet. :D
