Any thoughts on these, i used to have a 306 XSI which i loved daily but she died in a ditch oops.

Any way i am fed of diesels. i have just put my second car back on the road due to giving back the company car and its doing my head in, starting is a problem, smoking when giving it some, it sounds like a tank.

So bang for buck the 206 GTI seems like a reasonable car for the money with some performance to match.

whats your thoughts or other cars that fit that buget with decent spec. I would have a top end budget of £2500 as its only a get me to work car.

cheers

We bought a pug 206 diesel 2 years ago, a J reg we paid £100, it took us on a Scally Rally around Ireland (about 1500 miles) on year one, taught youngest all about daily commuting and ice driving th following year we did 5000 miles in 10 days into the Arctic Circle, so it is a rugged vehicle. OH wants the GTI for a Rally Car (real, not Scally!)

They weren't introduced until 2001. Are you thinking of a 205?

Do you need four seats? If not, Mazda MX-5. Plenty in your price range, rear wheel drive, great handling, even if it has got the engine at the front - still for under £2.5K you can't have everything.

I should point out I don't like front engined cars in general and really, really don't like front wheel drive, so I'm a bit biased. Even my van is rear-engined.

it needs 4 seats unfortunatly, i did think of a mx5 but with a child n wife who also need to go in on the odd day.

My Wife has a 2002 reg 1.4 Peugeot 206, a horrible nasty car.

Unless the the 206 GTi is completely different I'd not touch one with a Nikon

My original idea was to get a Merc A class but there some bottom of the barroll types out there.

The Audi A2 but would need more budget and if i was spending that kind cash i would swap the V6 for some thing more powerful

you could be right! Never been good above number base two :naughty:

Peugeot 11001101 doesn't roll of the tounge so easily though, not sure their marketing people would like it
