Sad news. He had a good innings though. And a legendary character.

He was in one of my favourite films, How to Steal a Million, with Audrey Hepburn.

Such a shame, great actor, Murphy's war was a classic which is usually never mentioned! He died yesterday of a long term illness (most think the cancer was back)

Thank you for the detail. Murphy's War was great too. He was always more than "Lawrence of Arabia".

I met him in 1969, very nice man.

You're very lucky to meet him, he was always an honest actor, never in the tabloids for being a dick like the modern equivalent etc. I think at some point in the future we won't have actors like him, and we won't remember them in the same way - although Tom Cruise thinks he's the messiah......

Chhers for the heads up on title error Nod - hope the gales were not too wild down your area off the country. Bit noisy here and surprising when we found the garden a little more than reorganised this am.

Gales? A bit windy but I put that down to the (delicious) parsnip soup Mrs Nod made for us! Nowt too blowy in the atmospheric dept though. A bit damp over the weekend.

I'm guessing that the typo was probably down to blimmin' autocowrecked... PITA sometimes!
