weekly Peter 123's 52 for 2022

Lovely colours Peter, maybe crop out the bottom part of the image or include more of it as a Silhouette.

Pete
Yes I thought about that but decided the shot out of the window added some context.
I was very quiet and thankfully did not wake Mrs. P.

Week 19 Sport

I chose this one because the spray thrown up gives a sense of action. I cropped fairly tight as the length of these boats means an image with an panoramic aspect ratio if you want to show the whole vessel.

Nice one and good timing with the double SPLOSH!

Nice image! I love the effect that spray can have.

The spray is cool Peter, you could almost have cropped in to the middle three rowers to emphasis it even more

Sunset: Fab colours and I agree the contrail adds to it.

Sport: Love this shot - great reflections and the colourful tops work really well. Almost looks like they deliberately dressed for a photo shoot! The spray is great too. I like the crop.

I'm very impressed by the tech. I hadn't realised that it was mono until I read the reference to the Tech.

Week 21 Metal

No need to go far to find a metal shot this week. Scaffolding on the house is enough metal I hope.
My little Ricoh is nice and sharp.

This was my other idea (using a steel to sharpen a knife) but I wasn't there when the beef was newly roasted, and after a couple of days in the fridge what was left was quite dry.

They are both good shots Peter, I wouldn't worry about how dry the beef was :D

Nice shots Peter - Certainly the pick for me is your chosen one and you're spot on - that Ricoh is sharp...

I really like the light in the scaffolding shot, and the depth created by the many layers is great.

The scaffolding shot works well as you’ve gone in nice and close. That Ricoh does a fine job!

Week 22 Treasure

I've been at a bit of a loss what to post this week, so I asked our 5 year old granddaughter if she had any treasure and she said she had and she kept it in this box.
I asked her what was her most valuable piece and she said it was the pink bangle so it has pride of place.

The other idea I had was a photo of an old coin I own from the early part of the Weimar Republic.
At first sight it appears to be treasure but due to the post First World War hyperinflation it was worth next to nothing. So anti-treasure if you like.
But I chose the first as it is real treasure.

Love the Granddaughter's treasure :)

That's really cute! I love how our idea of treasure changes as we grow.

That's a great story and collection. I love the way her particular "treasure" captures the light.

Week 23 Solid

I was planning ice but a few beat me to it.
So these are a pieces of solid Hematite hewn from solid rock.
Hematite (known as kidney ore in this form - there are a few other forms) is mined for it's high iron content.
These pieces came from a mine under a fell in the western Lake District National Park. The mine opened in the 1880's and closed in 1914/15.
It is reddish in colour but my mother used them as doorstops and they have been washed and polished many times.
I used natural light from a back and side window to highlight the "kidney" type surface.
First shot has been "Lightroomed" quite a bit.

This is realistic without much LR processing.

The colours in the processed one do add a lovely warm glow to the rocks. You've done a great job capturing the detail.

Lovely backstory. Isn't nature amazing?!

I have a hematite necklace, but it's quite blue (and very heavy!!).

yes they are quite heavy.
Amazing how they could just buy mineral rights and mess up the land in the good old days.

Upon reflection I prefer the first image but it's posted now so too late.

Love the back story.. really interesting. The first image brings out the colour beautifully.

I do like the one you've chosen Peter. The warm light works well and it's a good take on the theme. A lovely reminder of my Geology field trip days.

Week 24 begins with P

I've been messing with push bikes this weekend so the object beginning with P is a pedal. A pink pedal on our granddaughter's bike.

My other idea was petals but pedal seems a better fit with the theme. I also thought about petrol, topical, but again the photo is really of a sign, so not a P.
