weekly Peter 123's 52 for 2022

Definitely different compared to all the other shots for this weeks theme. Never easy to keep a 5 year old still ha ha! You've managed a good background and the focus is on the bottle as per theme.

I think the colour version has the edge. I love the ripple effect.

Great shot Peter, the dog walker stands out more in the b&w and it makes it look like he's under water. I think I like the second one best.

I really like the black and white, the trees look good and the person gives it some scale.

Initially I liked the mo0nochrome but having had the figure pointed out to me (I didn't notice it at first) I prefer the colour version for its mystery.

Love the figure in No2 - so that's my choice.

i must admit, i'm not a fan of ICM, but the colour one has the edge for me.

After lots of thought, image 2 just shades it for me, both are nice images all the same.

Prefer the mono for the figure being more noticeable, although the colour does have a subtlety to it that could be appreciated as a large print where you could spent time looking at it.

Week 6 Alley

The B/W adds to the scruffiness of this one which is off a very clean shopping street and leads to the 2nd clean alley (the one with the 2 ladies.
Mrs. P is my model in the 2 colour shots.
The B/W alley is in occasional use - I closed the gate for the shot (snappers licence). Sometimes the gate is locked though.

Yep, another vote for the chosen B&W shot. Contrasty mono works well, and the closed gate adds another dimension to the shot.

I think that you chosen the right one Peter. The processing really sets it apart.

Gritty dirty looking alley way, B&W done well. The bars make you want to stray away.

Yep it's No1 for the moody grittiness :)

Definitely #1 for me. It depicts exactly what is in my head when I hear the word "alley". Great perspective and well processed.

The first one could be a dictionary representation of the theme, the processing on it works well to convey the theme, with the element isolation within the gate sections also interesting

Week 7 Heavy

This was around the corner from where I live. Too good a chance to miss for this week. It was still very windy so I didn't hang around.

No one was in the car at the time thank goodness.

Glad no one was hurt. certainly ticks the theme. The root ball on the tree looks tiny, not surprised it was blown over.

Is it a silver birch ? Anyone know?

Certainly looks like one, Peter. As pointed out above, the root ball is tiny, constricted by the road and pavement - a wonder it's stayed up to that size!

Ouch!
That'll polish out........

Sometimes it's just the time and place that makes the shot :)

Ouch. The second shot tells the story better in my opinion. Not something you can fix with a Band-Aid... :)

I pondered which one to use but I felt a zoomed in shot showed it was heavy better than the other.
