Thanks for the welcome guys, I've just about got my homework in on time with Feelin' Groovy.

I'm not sure this lens is best suited to indoor close up photography so it's going to be a learning curve this year

Great concept! I really like the purples, which always say "groovy" to me.

Love the concept. Is that fluff on the disc?, if so perhaps I should say it's a "cracklin shot"
I know what you mean about close up stuff with a standard lens; my first attempt for Week 0 didn't pan out for the same reason.

Certainly fits your theme.
I can't help feeling the iso is pushed too high (no exif, so can't check settings).
Was this an action shot? Because another option would have been to set it up stationary, using a tripod, long exposure and low iso, you may then have gotten sharper detail.

Excellent song choice and a good concept for your submission. Close-up shots are difficult to light and expose correctly. You're in good company - I, like many others on the TP52, am on a learning curve too. Good luck

Great idea Pete, although not super clear/sharp it comes off okay, you say that you are not sure if the lens is suitable for indoors, what lens was it, could you have used a tripod and a longer shutter speed ??
It's a 28-135 lens (shortest that I have currently following some trading over the christmas break)

I shot it freehand with the record in motion, to be honest the tripod didn't occur to me but I will bare it in mind for my next project

Ahhh thanks Pete... I think that should be fine for indoors, as I say with a tripod for low light due to the f-stops should give some nice images :)

Sharper focus on the needle would have been nice but I do like the purple - makes it a bit more abstract.

I'll be sure to do that next time, I think the tripod is going to be useful this year

A 28-135 will be fine for indoor shooting - I used a 200 on a crop camera several times last year. However, shooting a moving subject, indoors with a lens that I'm guessing isn't super-fast... it was never going to be the sharpest. That said, I think the lack of focus, along with the unusual colouration, actually adds to the retro-ness of the shot. I'd just pretend it was deliberate if I were you!

Interesting photo, maybe you should try a reshoot with a much longer exposure (on a tripod obviously).

Bit of a nightmare with the software, I got a new Canon 80d but my photoshop doesn't work with it, The free stuff available doesn't give me much scope so I think I'll have to do a lightroom subscription to solve the problem then I'm back on track

I'll hopefully be able to start catching up this week
